Sneaky Tesco

Ooooh! I'm so cross! In best MS-style I bought enough cards in Tesco on 23rd Dec last year for this year. They were well under half price and, I thought, a great bargain, till I spotted Lizzie Dripping's thread! Just checked the backs and guess what? I agree it shouldn't matter and it wouldn't worry me to receive last year's card but I know it would to a lot of people I send to. Well, at least I hadn't written them all out like poor Bossyboots!
Thinking about it though, I think a bit of deft work with a ruler and black felt tip is in order;) . Can't bear not to use them - it's not just the waste of money, they're so pretty and ******** to Tesco!
Thanks for the warning Lizzie Dripping.0 -

If that's what they are like I wouldnt waste a stamp on them. I'm sure some of my friends will have had the same card two years running because I always use up the left overs. Why should it matter?0 -
Whats the problem?
It would not bother me to send or receive one with a expired date on it, the cards ever been used has it!
If I got one with somebody elses name on it that had been crossed out from last year then that's a different story!Regards,
Dave
If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button

Hi
why not just put them in your recycling bin, you don't have to recycle them at Tesco, and as for the snobbery part, I don't read the backs of my cards I just stick them on the wall

Yeah, you're right, of course, it shouldn't matter but with some people it does. I think what's getting up my nose is that I thought I was being clever when in fact thanks to Tesco I'm being exposed as the cheapskate I really am! Also, knowing Tesco, I can't think it's anything but a cynical ploy to make sure we buy full price cards each year. I know.... as we're all likeminded on here I think I'll send them all to you lot! :rotfl: No, actually, I've just been at work on them with my ruler and and a black felt tip pen - problem solved!!! Another moneysaving triumph! :T0 -

oh my god i agree !!

For those who are bothered having the date on them Sainsbury's have done the same.
I'm sure your friends and families will still love you all whether they're this years, last years or 10 years old. I wouldn't be offended to receive Christmas cards bought in last years sale.
Its just great to have friends and families to send them to.0 -
The people you send them too might do exactly the same thing tho. Dont the majority of people buy up xmas cards in the January sales???Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110
