Weekly Spend Challenge W/C 29th May 2011

Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Firstly a huge thank you to LC for running the thread last week, you did a sterling job
I am pledging £50 this week. I have a pamper evening planned with the girls from work on thursday night and this should be about £30. I am off to the cinema this afternoon so maybe some ice cream there. Hopefully that should be it.
Let me know any other results and pledges and I will update the first post.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

Could you put me down for £25 as it's payday week, need to get some bits and bobs plus a bday prezzie for my little god daughters 1st birthday which is in a few weeks.
Good luck everyone! I doubt it'll be a big win week on eBay as I am running out of tat to put on there! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
Please can I pledge £50.00 this week.
It is payday week and being half term, we would love to treat the kids to a day out.
Thank you x

Hi all
Thanks PP, it was quite nerve-racking, I kept worrying I'd forget to look at the thread... then found I was looking at it constantly! :rotfl:don't know how you do it every week!!! Enjoy your pampering night, sounds like a bargain!
Anyway, today I have actually made money - a £10 Amazon voucher from Shop and Scan, which I've already spent £6.49 of on series 4 of The IT Crowd - I couldn't resist!!! I won't include this in my total though as it's voucher not cash...
It'll be an expensive week for me as it's payday and I've got a few bits to pay for, but I still think it's worth setting myself a goal so I don't have all my fun in one go and then end up bored for the rest of the month!!!
(I'm not including petrol money in this - I never have and I never will as it's not something I have any control over at the moment as driving ridiculous amounts of miles _pale_)
So... I'd like to pledge £100
I kind of get palpitations looking at that! But really I'm not (or shouldn't be) worried, it's all factored in as part of my budget for the month. For my (and your, if you're that interested!) reference, this is split as follows:
£30 Food Budget (£20 31/5, £10 3/6)
£20 Misc Budget - for toiletries (should see me most of the way through the month as I'm pretty stocked up still, am combining this with cinema trip Tuesday to save doing another trip to Boots another day!)
£20 Entertainment Budget (£10 31/5, £10 3/6) (cinema with Mum on Tuesday, payday, although I should get ifor 95p with nectar points, but not sure if I'll want ice cream there... I usually cave in! )
£10 Misc Budget - that I owe a friend
£5 Misc Budget - eBay fees (think I'm mostly covered for these in Paypal a/c but just in case...)
£15 Misc Budget - for part of birthday presents for 2 friends (Body Shop sent me a 30% discount voucher as I've not shopped online with them for a while...if I buy 2x £10 gifts, I get free shipping as £20+, then knock off 30% and shipping still stays free - I tested it - so I'm getting £20 worth for £14, I think it's worth it!)
I'm basically wiping out my whole month's Miscellaneous Budget except for a bit, in one day but it means I've bought everything I need and won't find myself stuck later in the month.
Payday week always looks terrifying as I do like to get these things out of the way as I don't trust myself to put the money aside and not do anything with it, I'm afraid I'll spend it (I have no faith in myself!)
Sorry for the essay!! Have a great week all... is it as blustery with everyone else as it is here?! Crazy!

Hello can I come back please?
My limit is the usual £10 please
I really need to get my debt busting back into gear as MrS will soon tire of paying for me for things when I'm not actually reducing any of my debt! 0 -

First post updated let me know if I have missed anything.
LC sounds like you have everything planned and recorded, think I need to take a leaf out of your book.
It is rather windy here, sounds like the roof might blow off:eek:
Welcome laisbojar83 (I keep trying to say this in my head but get confused, can you please enlighten us?)
Welcome back psycho. Hope you are well.
Cinema trip has been postponed as OH is too lazy to leave the house so looks like a NSD here.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30
