the link that Souk posted is excellent - I use that website loads as there are all sorts of great articles to read about motivation, goals etc. Oh and a good one or two about procrastination too ;):p

hope you feel a bit more with it soon :)
  • Come on ShoeGal, you know how good the feeling is when you get to the end of the day and have done what you had to do.
I'm sure like me you also know what it feels like to get to the end of the day... and have done nada.

You know how you want to feel ;)

Not been around as I am feeling a fraud even being on here :o My finances are not under control and I am embarrased to read about all the amazing people who achieve what they set out to do :o I never achieve anything, I am a sad and overweight middles aged woman in loads of debt

I may start a new diary if I ever feel that I have anything positive to say

Thanks to all for your support, you are amazing people :A
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!

  • awww :( ((((ShoeGal))))

diaries are here for the bad times as well as the good - in any case, I never believe the ones where things are fantastic all of the time - it's either very edited highlights or people are very lucky! :rotfl:

it's a funny time of year. I think a lot of people are feel like they have lost direction, I know I certainly do.

Sorry to hear things are a bit pants. However if you keep telling yourself all that, gradually you will start believing it and things will never get better :(

aw petal you're not a fraud, you're fab (hug)

Everybody's got different things to balance, sometimes achieving things is just by picking the right goals and er, the other thing is that achieving things doesn't necessarily make you happy unless you pick the right ones. Take this from the nutcase whose friends call her superwoman but is fed up with never having time to see them. Baby steps on your own path might be the thing.

LHG is right, it's a bit of an odd time (although I have the excuse that now I am not working like a loon, stressed to the eyeballs and constantly exhausted I don't know quite what to do with myself).

I think maybe you might also need a bit of this and this :D

  • Shoegal, sit down (well I guess we're all on computers so I'm hoping your sitting) and take a deep breath. If your signature is right at the moment, you've almost halved your debt! Even if you've had a couple of spends recently and its not exact, that is still a monster achievement and you shouldn't think yourself poorly. I know some of the people are able to be incredibly strict with themselves... I know I'm not one of them, yet I have been motivated to take my debts seriously and to slowly go in the right direction... Thats all you need to do. Baby steps, and take care of yourself in the meantime.
    Hope your feeling better! X

    Sweetie,

I noticed you've not been posting much but assumed you were just really busy.

I really have to take issue with all those negative descriptions you posted .

    You achieve loads of things:

    - You have cleared half your original debt :j

    - You maintain your home, your car, your career & your relationships with friends & family single handedly :D

    - You are a warm, kind hearted, encouraging & supportive friend :A

    - You are a stylish & modern woman who takes care of her appearance & image & enjoys the rewards earned by hard work

    - You have a splendid & womanly figure and enjoy the luxury of delicious food - as opposed to being some half starved, stringy bint with tragic food issues.

    On a more constructive note;

Why are your finances out of control ?

Are you up to date with all your essential payments ?

Are you overspending on essentials, or treats ?

Are you just fed up & fatigued with living on a tight budget, or do you really not have enough to live on ?

Do you feel the need to treat yourself as a replacement for some other unfulfilled need, or, are you trying to maintain a lifestyle that friends & colleagues have, or you feel you should have at this stage of life ?

Just a few questions to think about & maybe now is a good time to think about what you really want to do/achieve for the next 5 years & whether it might be helpful to discuss these desires / fears with someone other than your usual confidantes.

Also remember that a lot of what you read on the internet is not only positively edited, but also subject to interpretation.

I'm always here for you :kisses3:

  • Shoegal, i am sending hugs, I am willing to stake my wages that if I ever met you you WOULD NOT match the description you have given of yourself. You are allowed (obviously) as are we all to have a moment of the miseries. Then read Lula's post and come back. We all do it, we all feel like that and it passes. Remember that, it passes.

    More hugs

    Love Buffy xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
