Hmm.. Depends.
For some I can buy hinges for a tenner a pair, for other models £40 - no point doing one side at a time as the labour is the same and the other isn't usually far behind in failing. Add in £30 for labour and the cost of the hinges is between £40 and £70. HOWEVER CHANGING HINGES IS A JOB WELL WITHIN THE CAPABILITIES OF MOST PEOPLE unless its one of the newer HP or Compaq that needs half the laptop taking apart. As long as the plastics aren't damaged, they'll clip back into place once you have a new hinges.
Fans are £4 off Ebay all day long.0 -
its not the acutal hinges its the back of the screen by the hinges so i would need a new screen lid thing:TIf your happy and you know it clap your hands :T0

Not sure what thats showing us?
Pay more get a better spec laptop, thats clear but again unless you use them side by side you won;t be doing a comparinson.
Forget the ultra portable at the left side, no CD/dvd drive. The initial red one does not look like it has wireless, which is probably an omsion than true.
End of the day any will do what you want, fixing yours would probably be £100 or so, most laptops require a lot of the motherboards and daughter boards will have to be removed, or moved out of the way to get to the hinges. If the fans gone other parts may have overheated and be on the way out too, but only you can say if it's worth fixing yours Vs buying a new one.0 -

The rest of the damage is a result of a seized hinge. You can buy lids off Ebay for £15 or less. I paid £20 for a brand new still in sealed box Dell Inspiron 6400 lid inclusive of delivery.0
