Buyer hasn't paid postage

I sold quite a large item a few days ago. The buyer hadn't paid, so my mum went to send him an invoice. She mentioned no postage had shown up on it, so didn't send it.

I then opened the listing, clicked send invoice and the postage was clearly on there, so I sent it.

The buyer has just paid now, but the postage is missing, so they've just paid the auction price.

So does anyone know what went wrong? The postage clearly shows on the listing and it was on the invoice I sent. It's a large item and it says Postage and then Economy Delivery (Royal Mail Standard Parcels).

I have sent him a message saying something seems to have gone wrong, so could they send the additional postage. So it may be the send it, but I just have this little feeling something may go wrong, particularly as they took awhile to pay (which of course may mean nothing at all.)

I just went to change it to Unpaid, but eBay wouldn't let me as they said they've paid through Paypal. If they won't pay, what will happen?

Did you offer collection as an option? If so, they will have checked out down that route.

Someone did it to me - then demanded i post it for free. Unfortunately, the waste of space known as ebay, backed them up and threatened me with a strike if i did not still post it.

I stood my ground and the buyer collected 3 weeks later.

Refund the paypal transaction and ask them to pay with the postage added

Okay, I have just refunded him with this note: There seems to have been an error, and this payment is missing the £12 postage. I thought it would be easier for you if I refund this, to repay again with the full amount. If you'd like to collect it, then please let us know and we can arrange a pickup. Thanks very much.

Still no communication from seller. He is about 200 miles away, so I doubt he will pick up, but who knows.

On your selling preferences you can stop buyers from changing the payment totals. I'm assuming that they changed it, or did you also have free local collection?

I did have free pick up. There is no where that says they have selected that, but I assume that's what they've done.

It may be they do want to pick up, but they haven't communicated that and they're 200 miles away.

If he doesn't pay within 4 days file a NPB with ebay and explain they wouldn't pay postage

There was a thread on here a while ago where similar happened & a relative lived close by & collected, or something similar.
If they've paid the system shouldn't allow you to open a npb.
Have you asked for his contact details & given them a ring to ask if they're collecting, as they didn't pay the p&p charges?

There was a glitch a while back, I had a buyer of abroad resorting to sending extra money via PayPal (trusting of them) because they could not pay for postage via checkout or even using the invoice I sent to them.

When I sent them the invoice I had problems trying to insert postage, maybe you had the same issue.

Yes, maybe so, but they haven't said.

I will give them a bit longer as it's the weekend before I get their phone number. Thanks for the idea though.

You can't if a payment as ever been recorded via paypal.

A few weeks ago i filed an NPB claim after 2 weeks without payment.

The next day, the buyer paid - but his payment was promptly reversed by paypal who said it was fraudulent.

But the NPB case had been closed and ebay would not let me re-open it. :mad:
