my relative today picked up a new C3 picasso.

Later when he was taking me out for a drive i noticed some very slight surface scratches along the drivers door. The scratches are very light and probably due to someone using an abrasive cloth to clean the car. However, this is something one would not expect on a brand new car.

I have told him to tell the garage, but what should they say and expect? I would have thought a respray is well over the top for the scratches.

any advice welcome.

Did he buy one that had been on display in the showroom?

I was orrified when I went for a look at a Citroen DS3 in black that was inside. It was covered in very light marks - I assume from people messing about with the car etc.

okay but what can one expect them to do? Car was paid in full, so does one expect them to repair it, or a some cashback?

Minor scratches are not a big deal and many new cars have them, just take it back and get them to rectify it with a cut and polish.

More importantly these cars have had a recent re-call due to a brake leaver on the passenger footwell that can result in the passenger applying the brakes.

Make sure that has been sorted with a metal plate being fitted to cover it.

not necessarily if the abrasions go deep
modern cars and thin laquer dont take kindly to deep cuts and so what might look straight forward usually isnt
which is probably why supplying dealer was hoping for rain today

sb the OP states that the scratches are:
i noticed some very slight surface scratches
So if that is the case then yes a cut and polish is all that is needed.

And as I stated above that is not his main concern, making sure that the recall modification has been carried out is
