extra wtc payments not sure what is happening

hi all sorry more tax credits questions

i rang them up to tell them hubbys hours and earnings have changed several weeks ago, quite a big drop in earnings, i then recieved a payment of £8 odd then on the 23rd of this month i recieved a payment of £562 and then on the 24th i recieved another payment for £625.

i recieved some paper work last week andnoticed they still had the childcare element on it which i had asked to be taken off in jan but i never recieved childcare element money anyway as we earnt too much before so am not worried about paying that back

but i did ring them up again to make sure it was taken off this time so am waiting for more paperwork for that and hopefully they wont give me another payment.

i also recieved my renewal pack on fri so had to ring them again to give them last yrs figures and estimates for this yr

questions are have they mucked up and gave me too much, if so do i have to pay it back in one go or over a period of time, would i get a choice (i would rather just give it straight back)

hopefully i have given them the right estimates for this yr, so confusing to work, as im going on maternity leave and hubby is doing casual work for the council so its as and when some weeks he works loads and others not a lot.
