I thought i would start one relating to eBay.
This thread will relate to items sold on eBay for a good price that were/are purchased from charity shops and car boot sales.
To start us off I often purchase Levi 501 jeans for £4-£5 that usually sell on ebay for £15-£35 depending on condition. The best prices seems to be for waist 34 upwards.
November 2010 purchased from a charity shop: Moto Topshop ladies parka coat size 10.
Paid £9.99
Sold price £70.00.

And of course you're registered as a business seller, comply with DSR, have informed HMRC and the benefits office (if you recieve benefits), and pay the relevant tax................

Why would anyone tell other sellers their potential markets. That's just a great way to make less money.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

I doubt that purchases from charity shops and car boot sales that are then are sold on ebay will make much difference, For example i have noticed that the humbers of sales of levi jeans on ebay have risen but prices are healthier than a year ago. if you were talking about sellers of new items bought wholesale then fair enough.
But we are not.
A few buys from a charity shop is going to make no difference.

Lets get things into perspective.... I don't know if the OP is buying the odd thing or is out scouring charity shops for things to sell at a profit everyday of the week, or is registered as self employed or declaring her 'additional earnings', or is on benefits.....and neither do you.
HOWEVER.... that isn't what this thread is about it is about best bootfair / charity shop bargains.....
So to continue in that theme....
WE (a registered business) bought the contents of a 'water purification plant' from an auction completey blind. We didn't view it at all and only had the description to go on which amounted to " Quantity of filters, pumps and tubing from a water purification plant" and a picture showing 3 metal boxes (36" x 24" x 24"). We paid a whopping £35 for it....LOL
In the first box we opened there was a 19" flat screen monitor, PC Tower and Keyboard / Mouse (Worth nearly £400). The other two boxes were jam packed full of electrical components and control units which we stripped out and sold individually. Net worth of ALL items bought was nearly £3K. (A lot of legwork involved in finding out what all the stuff was though!)
and YES we did pay TAX on the profit....LOL0 -
Jammy! I'll get one of those bargains one day. From September 2008 - Wepromiseto £133.19, Greasypalm £46.16, Quidco £10.40, Cashback Kings £74.54. Vouchers £31.00. myhpf £21.03

Yes I thought there was...but there really is no harm in the OP starting this thread if she wants. People have the choice to reply OR NOT.....LOL
I saw this new post and decided to share my experience. I probably wouldn't have done so if I had to 'find' the long established thread.0 -
The OP did imply that they often did this (bought cheap to sell on at a profit) which would make her a business seller.
The point is, that people who sell regularly as 'private' sellers who are actually not, can afford to undercut business sellers who have a lot more overheads, thereby having an affect on a business sellers sales and ultimately their business viability. Is it therefore any wonder that business sellers get peeved when a private seller boasts about how much they have made on items they have bought to sell on.
