Wrong item dispute - but I organised courier

I've bought an item second hand on ebay, the delivery option was buyer collect or organise own courier. When the item arrived it was not the item in the picture. The seller has disputed and now agreed to refund the item cost but I will have to pay for a courier to return it and my fees for that will not be refunded.
I have opened a case in the resloution centre but don't know if I have a case to get my courier costs back. I paid for a courier to collect the item in the picture, not the one I actually got.
Anyone with experience of this?

If you win an ebay dispute you will have to pay return costs anyway. There is no system in place for them to enforce return costs they can only refund what you have paid.
Also as you organised the courier the only record of payment ebay/paypal have is the cost of the item which is all that will be refunded.

But I organised a courier to collect the item in the sellers picture and something completely different arrived.:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD

I'd be pushing for a refund of the Courier costs too to be honest. I'd be a bit miffed if the wrong item turned up!0

You could open an item not received dispute for your item, and tell them you'll keep the other item for x amount of days until they arrange pick up."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

I've opened an 'item not as described' dispute and even though I arranged and paid for the courier I feel the cost of this should be returned as I sent a courier for an item which was not as shown.
I've paid out quite a lot of money which I cannot afford to lose.
The seller won't agree they have pictured the wrong item and I'm hoping ebay will take my side.:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD

Buyers arranging their own courier can be fraught with difficulties. Unfortunately Paypal will refund the money that you paid and then wash their hands of it. If the buyer refuses to compensate you you need to consider whether returning it is the best option. Maybe your best bet is to sell it on yourself.0

If I wait till I can escalate the claim in the resolution centre for ebay to make a decision and they rule refund of goods once returned but not in favour of me getting my courier fees back, am I then obligated to that ruling? Could I then choose not to accept ebay's decision and keep the item to sell on?:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD

To save you waiting or getting your hopes up, I am 99.99% sure that ebay WILL rule that you can have a refund of the initial cost once you've returned them tracked.
How much was the item? How much was the courier?
The only way you will get the courier cost back is to take the seller to court.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

This isn't in dispute. The OP organised the courier in the first place. So the payment to the seller was the item cost only. This is the only payment Paypal will refund. So the buyer has lost the first courier charge and the returns courier charge.
OP. If the seller did not arrange the courier, then it would be fair to assume they don't have any tracking. As the item you purchased has not arrived, I would be inclined to file an INR for that item.0 -

The item was a tent and I paid £125. The courier cost me £41.51 and will therefore cost the same to send it back.
The seller knows I have the item as I have been in dispute with them ever since. The picture and description was for a certain model tent, the one the courier delivered was a different tent of a lower spec.
I happily organised the courier in good faith believing I was getting the tent listed, and not something I do not want and would never have bought.:j July '08 wins: £20 Foster Grant sunglasses...Lazy Town DVD...NScessity ActivSkins Kids Sun/swim set...Paddington Bear DVD
