Weekend 28th/29th May - What small DFW things will you be doing?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:D

Goooood morning everyone and happy weekend!! (Happy half term also for me, so a lovely week off:))

It's my youngest girly's birthday today - 12 now. She had 2 friends to sleep last night so they took over the lounge and I happily came up to my room woth my laptop and book...and was asleep at 10.30. So no idea how late they were, though I woke at 2.30 and dd1 had come up to bed after watching dvds with them and downstairs was silent - so not bad;)
So, off to town later - I owe birthday girl some shoes that I couldn't order for delivery in time. Will have coffee and cake, then chinese for dinner:D Off to my Mum's tomorrow.

Ok, better get a list:
  • check banking
  • tidy lounge - hoover too
  • lunch from home
  • write next week's meal plan
  • return stuff in town for refunds
  • bake a birthday cake
  • washing on quickwash then on the line
  • enjoy my chinese - not very DFW but it's a bday treat:T
  • return Lovefilm dvd that girls watched last night
  • check ebay listings
  • wrap ebay sales to post
Ok, can't think of much today - not the cheapest weekend, but birthdays only come round once a year:beer:
Have a great day everyone:A
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Morning All,

Pixie, sounds like you'll have a lovely time today. Happy Birthday to your daughter!

It's my OH's birthday and his wee one is here too so we'll be doing the rounds of seeing family and heading into town at some point too.

Other than that I will be doing the following:

    - check banking (OH paid today)
    - check eBay
    - washing at 30 degrees

    Have a good day all,

    Jules x

    Hi guys

I'm still in bed - have a splitting headache - didn't have a good night's sleep last night. Getting up and having a shower might help but for the time being I'll just lay in bed with my book. ;)

    Small things:
    • Decide how to get to friend's house - saying 20 min walk then 12 min bus - surely there's an easier way...
    • Quick cool shower
    • Tidying round
    • WM on cold wash
    • Look for free knitting patterns
On a positive note I've found shoes I already have to go with the dress I bought :T Going to knit a shrug to wear too so almost sorted!

    Afternoon from sunny Thailand.

I went to the local weekly auction this morning and bought a smart Acer Ferrari laptop bag for 200 baht, 20 mint condition English paperbacks for 400 baht and a briefcase for 100 baht.

before i left the auction I was approached by a latecomer who asked how much I'd paid for the laptop bag. When I told him he offered me 500 baht for it. Though it was tempting I turned him down, he then countered with an unrefusable offer of 1000 baht. Needless to say I took him up on it.

So I left the auction with 20 books a briefcase and about 250 baht more than I went in with.:D

i will sell the books to the local 2nd hand bookshops in town for 60-80 baht each so all in all a good day at the auction.
  • wow Asiacat Im impressed. That really was a good mornings work hey.

~Well, Im proud of myself today, I phoned Virginmedia and managed to negotiate a discount and an extra service for free ... saving myself £8 a month. Small saving I know but every little helps. I have also started selling unwanted items on ebay and learnt how to save money on postage by packing items carefully so they will fit into a letter box.

Haven't been on here yet as I've had a busy morning! Went out last night to see The Hangover II on a 2 for 1 voucher and took our own drinks so had a cheap night!

    • Went out for haircut and shampoo via Groupon - £12 instead of £28!
    • Popped into Poundland for some coffee and tea for work (my turn to do the buying!)
    • Got replacement coffee machine from Argos (used giftcard from spending £50 a few weeks back!)
    • Used free parking as I was in city centre for less than an hour
    • Installed replacement ink cartridges for printer (£2 instead of £6 on eBay!)
    • Took eBay items to Post Office and sent second class - the bloke there is so desperate for business he has tabs for his regulars! Re-used packaging for all of the orders too.
    • Done washing on economy
    • Going to watch the wrestling tonight with a mate - hardly TNA quality but its fun!
Doing overtime tomorrow - time and a half! Gotta take it while it's there!
