ASDA "Chosen By You"

Is it my imagination or are ASDA sticking 'Chosen by You' packaging on virtually every own-brand product on the shelves now? I bought a multi-pack of Chosen by You chocolate things the other day, opened them and found a load of individual bars in the same plain own-brand packaging they used to be in before all this Chosen by You malarkey was introduced!
I thought the whole idea of Chosen by You was to imply that certain things were a bit special, things that had been selected by "us" as products of higher quality. Surely if you're slapping Chosen by You packaging on practically everything it negates the entire point of the endeavour? If everything is special then nothing is special...

The "Chosen by you" range is a rebranding of their mid range own brand stuff. The "special" stuff is branded as "Extra Special". Hope that clears it upHere to learn and pass on my experiences.

It's a lovely piece of marketing, because in theory anything that anyone has ever bought is "chosen". But I'm sure we've all bought something and thought it was horrible, so a better way would be to see if people buy it again - but they won't do that because it ruins it! The use of children in adverts is also good, as if you choose carefully you can find children who will eat whatever they've been given.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

The children in the adverts don't work on me. I'm not about to buy something because a six year old recommended it. Six year olds think McDonald's is tasty...0

Chosen by you so you can't complain:rotfl:
Seriously- asda's marketing is good. They can convince everyone they are cheaper when wombled receipts by many tesco regulars show clearly that they are not. They can tell you what you like because apparently you told them. They make tesco look bad.
Tesco bigwigs should go headhunting!weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -
i DID wonder who these things were chosen by
i have been less than impressed with quite a few things, to the point i seldom shop in asda any longer, that and their deplorable online shopping service, anyways
i saw an advert the other day, little girl with the rocket lolly? its chosen by her, because?........ its red

Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose.
Chosen by me because ...
... they are not Asda. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Yup.
Asda are clearly trying to promote 'Chosen by You' as a brand in itself. Presumably in the hope that people will regard 'Chosen by You' as being of highter quality than plain ordinary ASDA own brand and therefore 'worth paying more for'.
Tesco have a different strategy. They go around inventing own brands that you don't realise are own brands.

Asda did have 3 ranges of own brands and still do it's just one has been rebranded as "Chosen by you" so they (as do other retailers) do say some of their own brands are better than others. The prices have not changed, just the packaging and some of the formulas used. They tested a large portion of the UK to taste test 3500 products, that now make up the Chosen by you range. The Chosen by you range also includes 500 brand new products, as well as the rebranding of previous items from the mid range of Asda own brand goods.
Note - I do not work for Asda or care if you buy Chosen by you or shop at Asda, Tesco,Aldi or Lidl etc :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Here to learn and pass on my experiences.

Is this the Trattoria Verdi stuff? Quite sly that really, I thought it must be a Tesco invention but it wasn't immediately obvious. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0
