Car Tax Renewal Credit Card Charge

Options
The £2.50 fee they charge you for renewing your car tax online by credit card, is it actually added to the rate of duty and printed onto the disc?

E.g. if the tax is £130 a year, will they print £132.50 as the rate paid on the actual disc?

Only asking as the tax disc web site displays it as "12 months duty of £132.50"

I don't know, but why does it matter?

The tax disc will show the true amount of £130 (or whatever is the applicable rate). The £2.50 will be hoovered up by DVLA.

I don't know the answer to the question, but I am genuinely interested in why he asked, that's all.

Presumably because he is 'genuinely interested' in whether the difference in price he is paying is reflected on the tax disk?

I asked as the tax disc site displayed it as a duty rate of £132.50. Not £130 plus £2.50 credit card charge which it is.

Everyone else, thanks for the help. :)

if you pay by credit card there are costs incurred by the dvla, that is why there is an additional charge.

Just the rate of duty, not the extra £2.50.
