american airlines

hope someone can help me with the following-:

i booked return flights dublin to san antonio 25th october til 28th november.my return journey was

san antonio to chicago,

chicago to dublin

then i find out they have withdrawn the 2nd flight, their suggested alternative is to fly through madrid.

ive explained to them for 2 weeks now i dont want to do this:mad: and even found an alternative on their own website( through aer lingus ) which suited me but they were dragging their feet, now i think it was because they dont have to links to aer lingus as of 1-2 weeks ago.im caught in the middle of their reshuffle.

they have offered a refund but the price has gone up by over £100 so im still trying to negoiate with them any ideas what im entitled to ask for?

sorry its so long winded hope someone has some ideas for me.

When I flew to Cuba KLM cancelled my flight and re-routed me through Amsterdam. I found out we were entitled to compensation for this by reading the EU legislation. I think we pocketed about 400 pounds for the inconvenience.

However as the airline is non EU and you're not flying out of the EU this may not apply. Does anyone know if EU legislation applies for the return portion of a flight that started in the EU? (Presuming you booked a return starting in Dublin, all with AA?).

Go to AA.com and do a list of alternatives, perhaps include Austin airport, rate the alternatives in order of preference and then ask them for the alternatives and see how you get on.
