What do suggest in my shower - stool or chair?

Again thank you for the very helpful advice.

I have tried a stool and chair and in my case feel much happier with the stool. I saw my GP and they feel it is a matter of personal opinion (chair or stool) for my problems. I have a combination of problems including balance which has been the most alarming as I would hate to fall over against the shower screen. Also leg peripheral neuropathy.

    Thanks

Sorry to drag this old un up, but did you get anything sorted Luminated and how is it working out for you? Am really needing to get something myself when I have spare cash.

    Thanks in advance :)

*ps, don't know why but assumed you were female, funny how we get that kind of impression of people isn't it just thru posts!*

    Yes no problem.

We were in Wilkinson's and saw some on display, chairs for £25 so bought one and it has been absolutely fine. The only thing I think needs checking is the height which for me is OK but some may like it higher. Here is the link but they are out of stock!!

    Good luck.

    Luminated - definitely a man :T

Hi luminated, I recently moved into a bungalow which has a walk in shower but has a wall mounted shower seat - it folds away if you want.

It has been wonderfull, it is fixed to the wall and therefore solid, very sturdy. I have just googled 'foldaway shower seat attached to wall' and there are loads of websites with different prices.

I hadn't seen one like this anywhere before and I certainly wouldn't be without it now.

One link of different shower seats and chairs attached to wall:

    Hope this helps.

Trixie - have you considered a bath board? I was given one by my OT, and it helps me to get into the bath as well as giving me somewhere to sit whilst shampooing, washing legs, etc. I sit on it and then lift my legs round over the bath rim. Same in reverse for getting out!:)

I found this web site the other day, they seem to have a good mix of bath boards and shower chairs / stools.

I've never bought from them so don't know what the quality of goods are like or there customer service, so as always Buyer be Ware.

I too got a bath board and stool through social services, and a man came and fixed a handle to the wall (in my old house).

Where I live now the bathroom is tiny, with no room to sit on a stool at the sink, so I sit on the bathboard, positioned at the other end of the bath, next to the sink! Works perfectly.
