selling cakes at car boot?
Comments
-
Speaking as a car booter, I would have to say that the idea of buying any foodstuffs out of someones boot, would have nil appeal to me, you just dont know how out of date or unhealthy the items would be, other than taking the sellers word for it.
Its one of the reasons I would not sell foodstuff at a car boot sale, I know they would not sell for the same reasons, that and the burger van on the corner.

What about fetes and fayres etc. Do they hold certificates?[/QUOTE]
They are supposed to, which is why lots of charities are stopping cake stalls (as I mentioned when replying originally).
The Hospice that I used to work for wouldnt even allow a volunteer to man the bbq stall if they didnt hold a current food hygiene certificate.
Seems a bit of a jobs worth thing, but it's all in the interest of our safety.0 -
Theres a lady at my local one who has been doing it for years and the cakes are good, well priced, and as well as displaying various hygiene certificates one look at her and her small van and I feel confident eating her food.
In the last year or so various others have set up selling everything from veg samosas to some of the most overpriced cupcakes I have ever seen and very few of these seem to make enough money to keep coming back.0 -
Some people are utterly mad.
If there was a problem, how on earth would they track you down? You don't sound like a regular booter?
It's the risk one takes when buying from a CB and the prices reflect the risk.0
