Interview under caution

I was interviewed under caution for benefit fraud 7 months ago. I am not proud and have felt totally ashamed since. I have paid back all the money and am still waiting for the outcome.
I am now looking for work and am unsure how to fill in the section on application forms regarding crb checks and enhanced disclosures. Do I put all the details on the form (in which case I probably wont get considered anyway) or leave it blank and maybe discuss it if i get an interview? (the job is a school admin position)
Also how long does it take to find out whether i'll be prosecuted? Ive heard it can be a year or more??

You need to know if you are going to get an administrative caution or be prosecuted in the courts.
However, I advise that you put this down on your application form. If you do not and it shows up on the enhanced CRB, you will not only lose the job but be disciplined, which wrecks your career even more.
You need to ask for details of their CRB policy, which may be on their web-siteIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
did the police do you for the fraud?
or just the benefits agency?credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -

The police don't get involved in benefit fraud cases, other than in supporting action such as arrests where needed.0 -
You need to give us an idea of how much the total overpayment was (including any housing and council tax benefit). Generally speaking (unless there are any previous convictions for fraud) they will not prosecute if the overpayment is less than £2,000.
And no, they wont let you off paying as stated above...0 -
Bohdy - she states in her post that she has already paid it back.
OP as you do not have a conviction then don't include it on the form unless it is asking specifically for details of interviews under caution then you would have to be honest.0 -
Personally, no matter what you have done I think its awful that you are waiting this long for the outcome, you obviously regret what yu have done and made good the money, which will go in your favour but to me it's cruel to have this hanging over you day after day, month after month.
Maybe a silly thing to say but is it possible to chase it up so that you can at least get on with your life.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
well a friend of mine got interviewed in july 2010 for benefit fraud and in dec 2010 she had a letter she had to pay back income support which she is and then 7 weeks ago had a letter for her to attend court on the 26th may which was yesterday she had a conditional discharge for 30 months and it will be on her record her solicitor said, so from july 2010 til now its taken to sort out, i no she wont be doing that again. i no when she was interviewed the person interviewing said it will take months rather than weeks so not sure maybe speak to job centre0

The problem is the application form states that you have to put down any reason you feel you may not obtain a crb disclosure. I really want this job but I feel if I admit anything I will be immediately rejected. (the police were not involved in the caution).0

Send Savvy_Sue a pm. She has a fair amount of experience with CRB disclosures in her work as far as I remember. I think you are expected to declare but not necessarily on the application form.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
