adhd autism dose it get worse with age

hi my little boy has adhd he is now 6 and has been treated for adhd since he was 4 we decide not to give meds as you get such different advice about the drugs it scares me anyway we noticed he was getting worse and took him back to the clinc where the consultant there said that he was screaming adhd at her and needs to go on the drugs now and also she suspected that he had autism as well but they would need other people to look at him before confirming autism

if it is autism dose it get worse with age he at the moment wont go loo on own has no sence of danger cant rember things like what he has had for dinner climbs over every thing has no idea of personal space or when he shouldnt but in he cant dress him self with out help and hears sounds in his head he dosnt sleep through the night cant focus and has these stange moments where he gets a glazed look on his face then just gose bonkers and you cant do a thing with him he has temper outburst and lies all the time i guess im asking is this as bad as it get or as he grows older it will get worse im worried for him any advice would be great thanks
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing

Whilst I am in no way trying to offer a diagnosis, it would be very unusual for an autistic person to lie.
    Gone ... or have I?

I think its more likely he has been diagnosed as adhd but has co morbids on the autistic spectrum, which is very common.

As mentioned, autistics would tend to be absolutely honest to the point of embarrassment in their replies :) whereas ADHD children with co morbids can weave a web which though clearly lies to others they will believe is the truth and expect everyone else to believe them :(

Definitely go to the adders forum where there is a wealth of info and support.

my son is Autistic ~ he peaked in his behaviour around 6/ 7, they were the worst years, it was steady bad till he was around 10, then he seemed to slowly get better, hes now 14 and still difficult but we can see light at the end of the tunnel, hes growing into himself learning his triggers etc, not to say that a teenage and Autism is a great mix, but still much better than them dark days when he was 6 / 7 and soo frustrated.

He was medicated, but isnt any more.

ohh and the lying thing~ we went through that learned its the way you ask things, he would swear he didnt slap his sister in the face but slowly through elimination and correct questions we would learn he did touch her face with his hand...lol kids eh!!
you have to be direct with the questioning, its the way he sees things.....

    I've been Money Tipped!
thanks so much for your replys its so helpfull i will go and look at that site tonight once ds is settled for a few hours he never sleep through i think your right about the lying thing as he is so certain that he his telling the truth he can be convencing but you have teachers saying that he is lying you have to belive them when you try and get info out of him he cant rember its like its in his brain but he cant get it back out so he just makes stuff up which looks like he is lying
im hoping that this is him peeking as he is hard work i have the drugs to give him but im worried that im going to lose his personasitly as he is a great little boy i hope its not autisum and it is what you say just these co morbs which go with adhd the thing is he is abright boy but he is bottom of the class as he cant get the work down on paper as well as his peers so he below avarge on all his lessons yet when you talk to him he can be quite clever his headteacher says somtime its like talking to a genuis other times it like what planet are you on and that sums him up really so if its not autism he should be able to work through this and thing could get better
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing

My son is Autistic and lies regularly. His consultant says it is not unusual at all.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

There are different levels of the syndrome - aspergers is on the autistic scale but those with this condition function at a very high level - would appear just a bit detached and "odd" to others. There are so many different types .........but everything the OP is saying fits so well with ADHD and you may find he is also severely dyslexic. My youngest boy was/is very intelligent - his brother got a first at Uni and is doing very well in his profession - youngest, though clearly brighter in some ways struggled to even write his name, couldnt remember what day it was, constantly lied, had no fear of any danger, would push his way to the front of any queue, would attract new friends vey quickly but lose them very quickly too because he was OTT, would even "forget" he needed to go to the loo most days til he was about 14. Its a real struggle for them and for the families.

Do check out adders for people who know what you are coping with and can support and advise.

My ds is 5 (Classic Autism - the lowest point on the spectrum and out and out Autism rather than areas on the spectrum - and ADHD) and lies quite a bit - Clin Psych says its not unusual.

The other thing that I have noticed is that sometimes, his perceptions are mixed up and so to the untrained ear it can appear that he is lying when he isn't. For example, if he has hit someone at school, he will swear that it was because they hit him first but some of time its been where he has had to queue or been made (yes, made) to join in carpet time and where he has no awareness of spatial perception and doesnt control his limbs very well he has in fact knocked another child himself or been sat too close and they have leaned into him - which he has perceived as threatening behaviour or a hit from the other child. He cannot be convinced it happened any other way.

Just thought it was a good point to raise as misperceptions can be mis-interpreted as lies.
