Has anyone ever heard of Holiday Prize World?

Options
I just had a phone call from a lady from Holiday Prize World asking me to confirm a few details as I was in the running to win a holiday abroad.... I usually get sucked into this kind of thing but something was telling me it was a bit fishy, her English was terrible which didn't help when I was questioning her about it being related to timeshares and I asked her what the catch was and she said I wasn't getting it :rotfl:
Can anyone confirm if I was right to hang up on this lady or have I just thrown away a chance of a free holiday?!!

I'm sure that's the company that holds a monthly draw. Let me go check.........

Edit: Yep, it's a monthly prize draw where you can win a holiday for you and 3 friends to a (limited) choice of your own. http://www.holidayprizeworld.com/ that's the website - not sure about it being a scam, did a quick search and there doesn't seem to be any complaints about it.

I know I enter lots of competitions and would have loved a real phone call like that but I just knew there was something a bit fishy with this one :rotfl: I asked her where she got my number from and she said the hr department! Glad I passed on this one then!

I don't think it is a scam. As I said, I couldn't find any complaints about them, and their T&Cs seem straight forward enough:
    Terms and Conditions / General
    1. Each prize draw is open to residents of the U.K, aged 18 and over. One entry per person per household. No purchase necessary to enter.
    2. There will be one main prize of a holiday to Costa del Sol, Tenerife, Turkey or Austria worth £3000. Prize includes, self-catering accommodation, return flights from the UK and £1000 spending money.
    3. There will be one prize draw every month. Promoter may decide which destination is on offer as the prize. All entries must be received before midnight on the last day of the month. The draw will be held within 2 working days of the last entry being received. Winners are selected at random. Judge’s decision is final.
    4. The entries that are incomplete, illegible or fraudulent will be deemed invalid. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, corrupted or delayed in transmission.
    5. This draw is not open to employees, partners and associated agents of Club La Costa (UK) Plc (CLC) or anyone concerned with this promotion or to members of any of our sponsor's holiday products. Bulk entries made from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted.
    6. The winners will be notified by telephone or email within 5 days of the draw date of the competition. If contact cannot be made within one month, the prize will be forfeited. It is the winner's responsibility to notify CLC of any change in contact information.
    7. The Winner's name and photo will be available from CLC and published on HolidayPrizeWorld.com.
    8. The winner may not use the prize in conjunction with any other offer, promotion or prize draw. CLC reserves the right to amend, withdraw or terminate any aspect of the prize draw at any given time without notice if circumstances beyond their control require it to do so.
    9. Details to process the prize claim must be provided by the winner within 14 days of notification by CLC or its representative.
    10. Unclaimed prizes may be passed on to other entrants. This promotion and draw may be run across or amalgamated into other promotions by CLC which share an equivalent or greater prize offer. Further, this may involve pooling the total number of entrants from one or more other prize draws to make one draw on the closing date and awarding one main prize with the nature of that prize determined by which prize draw the entrant entered in the first place.
    11. Entry into the draw authorises CLC and/or our sponsor to contact and to publish the name, photo, address and country of the winners. The winners may be required to participate in reasonable post event publicity.
    12. Entry into this draw constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
    13. Prizes are not transferable. There will be no cash alternative. Promoter reserves the right to substitute any of the prizes with one of an equivalent or greater value.
    14. Please note that we reserve the right to contact you before or after the Prize Draw to make holiday awards which are entirely separate from the Prize Draw and that those awards are subject to attending a presentation and are subject to their own qualification criteria and their own terms and conditions.
    15. CLC, our sponsors, nor agencies involved in this promotion will be liable for loss/damage whatsoever caused by matters arising from this promotion.
    16. Data is held according to the CLC's privacy and data policy which can be viewed at www.holidayprizeword.com/privacy. Your details may be shared with carefully selected companies who may wish to contact you with information or services which may be of interest but if you do not wish to be contacted in this way please write to CLC. Entry into the draw authorises us to contact you including by email/SMS but if you do not wish to be contacted in this way please write to CLC. Calls are monitored and may be recorded for quality and training purposes.
    17. All holidays must be taken within 12 months from the awarded date.
    18. When considering suitable dates for your holiday Club La Costa may require a notice period of a minimum of eight weeks from the date of request to the date of travel. This is to ensure we are able to provide the most suitable accommodation and flights. If you prefer to take your holiday outside of the peak season, it may be possible to accommodate your request at shorter notice.
    19. Your HolidayPrizeWorld holiday must be booked no later than 3 months from the date of the winners name being drawn.
    20. The holiday can be taken at any time, within the above guidelines, from the date of notification up to 12 months thereafter. If the holiday is not taken within this time period the prize will be withdrawn. No cash alternative will be offered.
    21. Please be aware that during peak season we may not be able to grant a specific request. All accommodation is subject to availability.
    22. In the event that Club La Costa cancels your booking due to circumstances beyond your control, an alternative holiday or date will be offered under the same terms.

I don't know hun. Nowhere in their T&Cs does it say anything about timeshare so it seems legit. I've entered their comps every month. Maybe see if you can find their number and phone them back? Ask what you would win, if you were to win.

Unless another MSEr knows any different?

You can call it timeshare or a holiday club, it's pretty much the same. I just found a very interesting
forum concerning Club La Costa which everyone should read before agreeing to go along to a
    presentation or before signing anything.

Do a search for "forum holiday watchdog" in google. It will appear in position 2.

Once on the site search for club la costa, and read the posts from there.

Sorry cannot post links as a new user.
  • These are all holidays were you get pestered to buy something once you are there. Normally a time share, or membership.

I can vouch for this site, If you are a winner, you win a holiday not a dodge the reps and agents for a week in the sun holiday. tenerifeholidaycompetition . co . uk
sorry no link, new user can't post links yet.

Would you pay a little to enter a competition so that if you did win the holiday, the holiday was actually a holiday?

    :money: ?
