Plus, this isn't malware, this is social engineering. You could compromise any software through social engineering.....Windows users can become infected by clicking on a link in their email, or visiting a website.
Not the case with this one, no matter how you want to play it out.
'Social engineering' is just one technique to accomplish something.
MacGuard and it's variants are Trojans. Trojans are part of the wider scope of 'Malware'.
The MacGuard situation has caused enough of an impact for Apple to respond with a high profile update to react to this Malware. To interpret it in any other way is to abandon rational and logical thinking.suicidebob wrote: »I need all them to keep my PC Safe? Anything else I need to install, or should that do it??
Two of them are installed by default. One of them will automatically be disabled by another. The point was taken out of context, hardly surprising from one of the fanatical.0 -

i was just about to write about it being taken somewhat out of context but refreshed the page before i posted it.
its quite funny as well since the latest research has shown that Apple fans get the same areas of the brain stimulated as religious fanatics when you discuss/point out problems with their beloved company/religion
which make me wonder if Futurama got it wrong and instead of the full blown religion of Star trek we will get the religion of AppleDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I suppose the question is should you be proactive or reactive when it comes to security? Personally I would always go for the proactive approach and get some AV protection.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0

Thanks to societys child for doing the googling for me (above). Its common knowledge apple have used it as a selling point.Plus, this isn't malware, this is social engineering. You could compromise any software through social engineering.....Windows users can become infected by clicking on a link in their email, or visiting a website.Malware, short for malicious software, consists of programming (code, scripts, active content, and other software) designed to disrupt or deny operation, gather information that leads to loss of privacy or exploitation, gain unauthorized access to system resources, and other abusive behavior.[1] The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.[2]
Software is considered to be malware based on the perceived intent of the creator rather than any particular features. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, scareware, crimeware, most rootkits, and other malicious and unwanted software or program....Not the case with this one, no matter how you want to play it out.0 -
