Easy jet car hire price guarantee

Hi all,
I just booked easy jet flights for august and was offered car hire with a price guarantee; find car hire cheaper in the next 48 hours and they would refund twice the difference.
Naturally there were terms, book direct on the internet with an international car hire company (one operating in more than 1 country). A quick look easily found one for £50 cheaper yet, if it seems too good to be true, then it usually is.
Does anyone have any experience of using this? Obviously the risk is that I spend £50 more than I need to and get caught in the small print.

Id go for it- Fortune favours the brave
We hammered Easyjethotels with a similar price guarantee 3 or 4 years back.Eventually, just like Tesco recently, they pulled it. You really need to check all the details are same.
It is probably very easy to beat them. "Double the Difference" is great marketing as most people think anyone so bold to offer such generous terms "must really be cheapest" and don't check. Go for it .
Ive been to Madrid and Dublin completely FREE as "Double the Difference" meant more than the whole cost.
I also stayed in Luton free via Holiday Extras "find It Cheaper -Its Free Guarantee"0 -
I tested them out on this a few weeks ago and got my double the difference back. It was only 20 pounds but thought I would test them first in case they did not honour it.
Having said that, I tried again last weekend, for a larger amount and have heard zilch, so need to chase them up on that one as they say they will respond within 96hrs...it's been a week now!!0 -
I did get my money back some years ago, but it was a hassle - try searching on here - I'm sure I posted about it. They use Europecar (whom I hate & believe that they are to some level related to National & Alamo - possibly the same or sister companies).
If it is big money, you can afford not to get it back & fancy a gamble/possible fight, go for it & let everyone know how it goes now!Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0
