You were told why in post number two!If, as an example, you owed £9k to a landlord and there were bailiffs at your door threatening to kick it in if you didn't cough-up in full, that would be okay. Conversely, let's say the £9k was owed to a credit card company who were content for you to pay back the minimum payment of £150 per month but you chose instead to repay them in full then the DWP boys would undoubtedly declare your actions as deliberate deprivation of capital.0 -
Not spam! I agree with talk it through with the CAB:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

If it were me I would pay your debts asap as this is the last thing you need on your head when earning £0. And gift your kids the money and get them to put in ISA in their names. I cant see you doing anything wrong here. You could come back in a few months asking for help on your debts, as you have spent all your savings, And get comments such as you should of used your savings to pay off your debts. Surly you will get more than £67 a week? That is less than what the law states a couple needs to live on? I may be wrong though. ?
Anyone unwise enough to action your chronically bad advice/insight would run the very real risk of gripping the rail of the dock at their nearest County Court when they answer a charge of fraud.0 -
Crikey- did I poke a bear/ keyboard warrior here? thanks to those with helpful attitudes, don't think I was being belligerent in any way and said that I would abide by proper regulations I just wanted to know the facts. Not intending to be on 'benefits' for any length of time anyway.0

if you use your savings to pay 'non priority' debts and then became eligable for extra means tested benefits, it would mean, in effect, that the tax payer is paying those debts for you.
you will be expected to use the savings to live off, rather than to service your debt.0 -

That ain't fraud. They not claiming nothing yet, and any judge would see that had to pay off their debts before they ended up in s hit street. It's their !!!!!!! money..0 -

as i said before, this would equate to the tax payer clearing the debt for them.0 -

Look for same proof of the transfere of money from your children's accounts and that should be acceptable as proof that it was set aside for them to allow you to then do so again."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
