Hi,
I have searched the forum but cannot find a good answer.
are there any other broadband companies that work without a phone line. I am a student and done need a phone line as it will be a waste of money.
I know virgin media do it, but are there any others?

If you have a mobile phone with a provider who gives unlimited internet as part of the package you could tether the mobile to the PC and use that, that is what I am doing at the moment with an unlimited allowanceSomeone please tell me what money is0 -
How do you expect to get ADSL broadband without a phone line over which to deliver the signal?
As advised above, apart from VM cable service, the only alternative is a wireless dongleNo free lunch, and no free laptop

The UK currently does not do dry loop DSL i.e
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_DSL
it is techically possible i.e. you do not need dial tone to use ADSL0
