Temporary cooker needed

We are buying a new house and the current owners are taking the cooker!!!

We cannot afford to get a new kitchen yet, though it needs a new one. We thought of buying a new, but freestanding cooker..but don't like the look of the freestanding cookers.

So I was thinking of getting a temporary cooker to tide us over...What's the cheapest way of doing this?

I have asked my friend who is a tradesman to find me an old one when someone is replacing their kitchen...but no luck so far...

Can someone give me any ideas of getting hold a free one or a cheap one????

Is there a wat of getting hold of the working cookers that are sent for recycling??
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

    They're taking a built-in cooker?

I think that would be classed as a fixture and if they want to take it, it's up to them to leave you with a replacement.

Try the free ads, shop windows or freecycle.

If its only temporary, then whats wrong with a freestanding. Surely cost and functionality are far more important than aesthetics?

Plenty of retail outlets will supply a cooker that is cosmetically less than perfect, 9 times out of 10 this will be a small dent or scratch where you can't see it anyway. Ask for a return or an ex-display model.

I bought mine for £29 in Birmingham. Don't be fooled by the picture, by the way, you don't just chuck everything in like that, but you can cook nicely with a small footprint

The freestanding will atleast cost me £150 and we don't to spend on a temporary cooker. And as its not very nice looking, we can't make it permanent.

We are looking at freecycle and gumtree.

We found someone selling just the gas hob from a fitted kitchen. I am not sure if we place it on a worktop and connect it. Not sure if its safe!!! Will that work?

do you really need a full cooker, you can buy a double hob for around £20

I dont have a hob at all, I have an oven, a microwave, a george foreman, a sandwich maker, a slow cooker.

The only time I would use a hob would be to fry an egg, thats all.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Did you know they were taking the cooker when you put your offer in? If it is built in, it is a fair assumption that it goes with the house. So you would be justified in going back and dropping your offer by the price of a new one.
