Just checked my local store opening times, and it says its open at 8 am tomorrow-(tuesday 26th), is this when the sale starts?

I was actually in my local HOF on Christmas Eve and the guys had reduced a number of electrical items ready for the Boxing Day sale, BUT............they were either ex-display or very old models.

Admittedly they did have a Sony digital camera and printer (RRP £299.99) for £70 and a JVC Digital camcorder (RRP £599.00) for £100 but they weren't current stock. Other items included headphones for £10, ipod mini docking stations for £5 and some cheap MP3 players.

The sign up said that you couldn't purchase the 'specially reduced items' until Boxing Day. The SA then covered everything up with a sheet.

Unless Im mistaken I reckon the only items reduced up to 80% are very old stock that has been discontinued !!!
Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue

BUT, isn't that the REAL point of January Sales?

They aren't supposed to be for artificially 'WAS'-priced stock on offer at artificially reduced prices or stuff that has been bought in specially for the sale???

    same in Oxford street!
  • In my opinion HoF had the best sale this year.

    I got for £70:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bodum-3020-Granos-Espresso-Machine/dp/B00065IA8S/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt/203-7761580-1963968

    and for £80:

Lots more 'genuine' sale lines for the first few customers. Micro HiFi DAB Radio - £50 (was like £200). Dyson £50 (also was £200). Left these for other MSE's...
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
  • My local HOF doesn't open until tomorrow-are there really Dysons out there for only £50?! suppose u have to get there when it opens? really fancied a lie-in tomorrow

Yes you have to get there when it opens. The good deals did not seem to be part of the normal sale lines (old surplus stock etc...). They seemed more to be more like special 'thank you' deals from HoF for the people waiting outside if you get what I mean. I think this because:
    - The good deals did not have special offer posters advertising them,
    - They were just piled up randomly around the store, like they were expected to go soon,
    - They had different stickers to the rest. Almost like customer manager special labels.
    - There were lots more dysons of a lower model number on sale at a HIGHER price!

So there really are £400 camcorders for under £100 but I assume the best deals vary store to store and they are not advertised as there is obviously no stock after half an hour...

  • I got 2 Gaggia cappucino machines and a Magimix one worth 700 for a total of 100, so there are bargains in HoF
