I was confused by what martin said about claiming. He said if the loan was still going, even if it was taken out 10 years ago, then you could complain/claim.
    .

Yes i noticed that and he qouted a couple of things factually incorrect.

He mentioned something about still complaining within 3 years of knowing of the problem, but this rule is from FSA's DISP rules so is applicable for sales Jan 05 onwards, not 10 years ago.

He also said PPI doesnt cover self employed, when it can, its just harder to claim.
  • I'm sure he also said to get a copy of your agreement documents the company have to give you them under the CCA. They don't.

Someone posted yesterday saying they heard him on radio 5 saying that if someone was self employed they were not covered. Perhaps again misleading. I thought he would use "may not be covered"?

Loan and credit card PPI are the types that often have no self employed cover. Although some do. Mortgage PPI tends to always have self employed cover.

it is wrong to say that PPI doesnt cover the self employed. Some do, some do not. "may not" would be a better way of presenting it.

Yes - if you send them a pound and quote section 77 of the CCA 1974.

If it's closed they are under no obligation to send a copy.

Can i still try to claim again??? and who/where do i go???

Did the firms give you a final response that included details of the Ombudsman and your right to go there within 6 months?
