As long the account is with HSBC or First Direct the transfer will be instant.

  • I know that transferring for example from your HSBC savings account to your HSBC current account online is instant, i'd say there is a good chance it is the same between HSBC accounts held by different people but it would be best to check with them by phone first.

it tells me to ring a number but whenever i ring it says the office is shut im guessing over the holidays, but im starting to panic now, since yesterday at least i havent been able to log on? but surely if someones managed to get into it then they wouldnt be able to change the loggin details?

  • If you can't logout, can't you change the password now? Just in case.

I'm with HSBC and I assume, like me you need the security number (6 didgit or more) and the internet banking code (eg: IB1234567890), and your date of birth. The only thing I should think they could change would the the security number... which I would assume they'd either need to go to a bank or call them up to change anyway. The banks are open again tomorrow right? Either call them up or drop into your local branch and check its okay...?

(Ps - Just checked mine and its fine)

Also, my credit card is with HSBC also, this still takes 3 days to clear, I never understood this? Its taken from my account isnstantly, hwoever takes 3 days to show up on my card. Always seemed strange to me!

To be fair I ususally do it on a weekend, so maybe thats why? I never know if Saturday is classed as a banking day or not.

If the worst does happen, then if they phoned up, the call would be logged in their systems, and if they went into the bank, they'd have CCTV, so they should have at least some leeds on how to find out whoever *might* have changed your log in details, however at the same time it could just be a glitch. If you have cancelled your cards for example, I know you can't get in until the new ones have been received.
