hi all, i have just moved into my new plaace to find that i have an aerial plug socket in the wall where as before my aerial came straight from outside and through a hole we drilled in the wall.
i brought an aerial extension cable thinking i connect from the swocket to my tv but it was too loose for the socket and when i turned on the tv i had no signal. my friend thinks that i need to buy actual aerial cable and 2x female connectors but i have no idea how to do this. any help please ?
thanks

Could be the wall plate is damaged. It quite easy to knock and damage them not difficult to replace though. Wall plated tend to be females as is your tv input.0

OP's going to need a cable with 2x Male Bellings* on each end.
*The connections the OP needs are called "Belling Lee".0 -
i was just trying to match up my wall socket to some on google and one that looks like mine says "Once the Wall Plate is fitted to Back Box (Not supplied) and secured to wall Connect TV indoor RF Aerial Lead from the Wall Plate to RF Input on TV / VCR / or SKY." is this what i need to buy ?

and yet on another website it says that you need a coax but what cable would you need inbetween. what worrys me is buying all this stuff, trying it out and then having to take it back.

is it one of these cables you need op?
have a look on ebay for cheap ones: tv aerial cable is coax cable (unless its satellite!)
i think you need a male to male cable, normally an extension cable is male to femaleThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

the cable i linked to would go from that wall terminal to the back of your tvThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Erm. Do you actually have an aerial connected to the other end of the cables in the loft? (As I discovered when I plugged my TV into the plate on the wall.)0

just realised the aerial extension cable that i brought was fine for the tv socket but was too loose for the aerial wall socket so i'm guessing i need 2 different cable ends, any idea what these would be called or is it just male/female ?
