GTD's DFW Diary - Getting Closer to 40...

  • No weight lost this week - it's definitely getting harder to shift at the moment, so I need to get some focus back on my strict calorie counting.

I've reached the end of my MBNA card's 0% offer, so I need to shift the debt to another card - I've applied for a Barclaycard at 0% for 14 months (hopefully won't need that long) which has been accepted, but I won't know what the credit limit is for a few days yet. I need at least £4500

I did have an 0% offer from Mint when I called to close the account there, but when I called again the other day the offer had expired and the best they could do was 1.9% - maybe I should have taken it. Anyway, it was satisfying closing the account, so that's got to be worth something :)

I've updated my sig with my latest figures - the extra loan is for a new sofa (0%) which I've managed to !!!! up already by giving the wrong bank details for the direct debit - doh! It would just be my luck to get bank charges on this! That's one to sort out this morning if I can locate the paperwork...

The OH's ebaying is going well, so that should give us some money for our trip to Spain later in the month (a RyanAir 1p = £60 flight). The plan is to laze by a pool somewhere so we don't have to spend any money. Looking forward to it!! Stressful times at work at the moment...

Anyways GLGLGL to all you MSE/DFW-ers out there!

  • Another 0lbs lost this week - looks like I need to tweak my eating plan to give things a bit of a push.

Not had my Barclaycard through yet - fingers crossed it has a decent credit limit.

  • I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I last posted

Holiday was great - more expensive than I thought it was going to be, but that's probably because the exchange rate is pants.

I've not made any inroads into my debts at the moment (new sofa has arrived) so I'll spend some time this weekend working out a way forwards. Not gloomy about this, but just need to get cracking. Same for weight - gone up a bit, so need to work on that too.

  • This is turning into a once-a-month diary now...

I've not been able to make any inroads to the debt lately - let's just say we're popping out of the country next week on a little trip. OH has been brilliant at negotiating (hopefully) great accomodation and we're pretty much paid up and ready to go.

Feeling a little smug that I accidentally capped our gas and electricity until December 2009 - I said 'yes' during a sales call last year when I wasn't in a proper MSE-price-comparing frame of mind, but it's worked out for the best.

That's the only money thing I'm feeling smug about. I managed to get all my cc card payments wrong last month. I'm now spread over MBNA, Barclaycard, Amex and HBOS and they've all got a late payment against them - doh! I don't know what happened, but my eye was completely off the ball. Probably because I wasn't coming here every day. I only noticed the other day that my bcard apr had gone up from 0% to 16% because of the late payment - managed to get it reversed, but there will be some interest to pay now. Reminder to self - keep it together!!!

Hope everyone is ok out there in MSE/DFW land, especially with all this credit crunch malarky.

Hello! I was hoping you were going to update us on your trip! I am glad you are able to go!

Grr to the late payments - it is so easy to take your eye off the ball. Bet you won't be doing that again.

Good news on the capping of energy prices though - I only did mine in the nick of time a couple of weeks ago.

  • Hi Hypno! Hope all is good with you.

I just got to that point where I had so many bills to pay and not enough money to pay them and just ignored them for a bit. Back to the spreadsheet me'thinks.

We also have some other news - can you guess what...

Well done on capping - I'll read your diary shortly, see how things are.
