FairFX gagging orders

I just got an email from FairFX claiming that they have been the subject of superinjunctions to stop them reporting their competitors poor exchange rates.
This is somewhat more important than some footballer's sex life!

Can't see why anyone would want to 'gag' FairFX. Their own rates are hardly the best on the block, when compared with the rates offered by Mastercard or VISA.
For example, today the following rates apply:
FairFX Rate £1 = €1.1241
VISA Rate £1 = €1.1453
ICE Waterloo £1 = €1.145
Sounds more like an advertising ploy than a serious complaint.0 -
It looks like a scheme to make their exchange rates look good and divert attention from the best cards, like Halifax Clarity, Santander Zero, N&P debit card etc.0

Of course it is an advertising ploy. They may not be the best on the block, but they are certainly not the worst. The FairFX Anywhere card is good for booking cheap Ryanair flights and for purchases abroad.
Not everyone can get a Clarity card at 12.9% APR.
So, let FairFx have their fun. You lot are waaaay too cynical.0 -
Quite clever use of a current media issue to publicise their own product really. Thumbs up to the marketing department at Fair FX!
And of course it is in no way true that they have been 'gagged', just for anyone out there who is unsure. Anyway, with the amount of different comparison sites/tools that are available, no FX company should need to point out differing competitor rates; it's already easy for consumers to find!Work within the currency industry - all comments are my own opinions. ''I don't claim to have a crystal ball, or be able to see into the future, just base my views on market data and economic news.'' Quite happy to answer any questions about rates and market movements; if I can help, I will.0 -

It seems to me that you are using this forum to advertise yourself. I'm tempted to highlight your post as SPAM.
The fact is that there are many Bureax de Change charging ridiculous fees. So what harm is there in consumers informing each other of the worst offenders?
Seems to me the premise of this board.0 -
Em, am I missing something? Mike didn't post the thread, didn't advertise anything, so unless he is a FairFX employee, I can't possibly see any wrong doing!Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

Yes.Mike <snip> didn't advertise anything, so unless he is a FairFX employee, I can't possibly see any wrong doing!
I've never come across him or the company before, but his user name didn't take much working out and is blatant advertising.0 -
I also draw a similar conclusion.
I myself have been having a FairFX anywhere for sometimes, but I hardly use it. I only use it and then start put funding in it when I am about to buy Ryan Air ticket ...
For foreign withdrawal and purchasing there are few other better alternatives than FairFxCan't see why anyone would want to 'gag' FairFX. Their own rates are hardly the best on the block, when compared with the rates offered by Mastercard or VISA.

I used to use the fairfx anywhere card it was the best on the market, until they got greedy and decided it charge £1 per atm withdrawal, now its one of the worst.
Using Santander Zero Debit card at the moment.0 -

You don't have to use it for ATM withdrawals. Don't be over-dramatic. Of course it is not one of the worst.
I keep mine for those Ryanair bookings.0
