how late is too late?

i want to go to cuba on honeymoon in october half term 2012, my sister in law travel agent has quoted me >£900, its a discounted rate because were family, it knocks about £50 off the online price but looking at the prices to travel in the next few weeks these are discounted by over £100 sometimes more

we get married late september leaving 3 weeks before our honeymoon, is this too late to book it?
i know its a big risk being stuck with very very cheap accommadation but i would search and search for the best at the time
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

You might wish to check the weather patterns for Cuba in October before you book.

Its worth £900 to see the look of fear on peoples faces when you ask them what its like living in a communist paradise, they pee themselves with fear if you ask the wrong question.
You are waited on hand and foot in Cuba as they dare not even look you in the face never mind upset you and risk loosing their supreme leader that much needed foreign currency .

Half term is usually busy and therefore expensive. I wouldn't leav it to the last moment to book the most important holiday of your life, I would also check out reviews of the hotels before booking, there are considerable variations and finally as has already been mentioned Cuba is prone to hurricanes in October, although less likely right at the end during half term.

my sis and mum in law went to antigua last october and said there was only a couple of days rain which would clear quite quick, they also have their hurricane season then

can you or alan bowen reccommend any where with a warm sea, for 10-14 days in october for that price range all inclusive, ive been looking and looking but just keep coming back to cuba!

Cuba is lovely but you really do have to be realistic about the chances of bad weather. I have been three times in the hurricane season, in May, June and end Sept/early Oct and have been very fortunate with the weather, nothing more than a couple of downpours. On the other hand I have a friend who visited in October and had 10 days of rain out of 14. Plenty of people do travel then (and indeed to other parts of the world during hurricane or monsoon season) and will no doubt have had a marvellous time with lovely weather.

The risk of bad weather is the trade off for travelling when prices are cheaper.

How long is the holiday for which you have been quoted £900? I know that prices for Cuba have risen quite a lot as it has gained in popularity. You have to bear in mind that prices will rise if it does coincide with the school half term holiday and also as it is your Honeymoon you may wish to secure a booking now instead of leaving it late and fnding that prices have not dropped much but you have a more restricted choice in terms of available accomodation.

What do you want from your Honeymoon destination, is it simply to relax on a beach?

it was a quote for 10 days, i suppose if i book now i know the price wont go up!
the trouble with relying on weather reports now is you cant rely on them can you? it does my head in that we went to tunisia a couple of years back in february half term and it was just like our spring with less rain!

yeah i wouldnt mind a bit of culture, thats why i thought cuba would be good to go see havana but mainly relax on the beach
i want to swim in 'bathwater' sea, something thats hard to do in the atlantic!

We holidayed in Jamaica last October (mid/late), prior to us arriving the island had had non stop rain for over 10 days, luckily for us it brightened up the day we got there and in the 10 days we only had one wet and miserable day.
