Hi All

I brought some shorts for my other half off ebay which arrived this morning. Now on the whole i am happy the shorts are really good what has miffed me tho is that i brought 2 pairs off the same buyer (sperate auctions ) I did ask for invoice asking if they did combined p and p but got sent back an invoice for the full amount so thought ok maybe they had already packed them. Open my parcel 2 pairs in there just a carrier bag to protect them and some brown wrap which was torn and the price label saying £4.41 when i was in fact charged £8. Now i know we all make mistakes with p an p i have done it myself and when the difference is more than 40p give my buyers a small refund and message them to explain. I emailed the seller this morning said i was unhappy at being overcharged by that much on the p an p and all she could do was moan that i had got a bargain and that she felt the postage was fair as she lost money. Confused as not sure what to do really as i dont like to leave negative feedback as being a seller myself i know mistakes can be made.

Anyone advice?

That's what the p&P & communication dsr's are for, a silly seller nowadays to charge that much extra on postage & expect 5* across the board & then moan at the buyer for getting a bargain.
Although it's always best to ask about combined postage before bidding.
If she wanted more she should have started it higher.

Thanks for the answering the strange thing is i did ask about wether they combined before bidding and the reply was yes just wait for all to finish and get pay the invoice.

yes you were absolutely right, and a seller whingeing about you getting a bargain is not right either

not sure it's bad enough to warrant a neutral though, but others may think otherwise

If they said before you bid that they would combine postage & then didn't I would be giving a definite neutral at very best & have to think over giving a neg.

Beats me how anyone would be happy to pay the same amount in total, if the "proportions" look right, but unhappy if the weight was on the postage. In this case the buyer would be right to mark down, as she was offered a combined total and didn't get it.
I've bought portable computer memory from a Chinese seller for years. Last one was 99p with £8 postage, £3 cheaper than other sellers. What would I have to complain about?

I wouldn't have paid until you received the invoice stating the correct combined postage. We have combined with postage before and it is really easy to change on the invoice. Also for clothing I wouldn't bid on an item that states £4 postage...that's just me though.

Emma neither would I it was my partner who bid he wanted some new shorts and being him he only looked at the price he was bidding not the postage. To be fair they are fairly heavy weighted them on the scales i use for ebaying and they still came under 750g so i know was overcharged but you live and learn other half will be spoken to about looking at p and p amounts from now on .

If you asked to combine postage costs before bidding, and they agreed, then didn't combine, I would leave a neutral and give them a 1* for P&P costs! That's just being cheeky! I would also mark them down on communication for the comment about getting a bargain!

But they didn't agree to combine postage, they said it was a bargain and the postage was fair.
The OP knew what the postage was, agree that the shorts are a good buy and are happy with them, so I don't see a problem here.
The simple fact is if you don't like the postage price then don't buy.
I often buy from ebay and when I do I take the postage into consideration, if it's still a bargain then I have no complaints.
