Barclays, PPI and Old Loan

Hi
Has anyone had any success in obtaining information via a SAR that is more than six years old from Barclays with a view to claiming PPI?
I took a £5000 loan out in 1998 which had PPI on. It was not explained properly at the time and I was also a civil servant.
The loan had a five year term and ended in 2003.
I no longer have the paperwork for it, only having recently become aware that I could reclaim the PPI but intend to give a SAR request to Barclays a go, on the off chance.
I was just wondering if anyone had any success in getting information older than six years out of Barclays via a SAR.
Thanks

Some have had luck with older loans.
Do a sar and see what they come up with.
Good luck.0 -

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go.
We essentially ended up paying double what we borrowed. I think the interest rate was around 8 - 10% so I think there could be around £2.5k in PPI plus interest, so fingers crossed they come up with th goods.
Seems worth the effort of a letter and £10!0 -
SAR template letter on the thread below, you can tweak to your requirements if you want to.

I sent asking for an SAR from Barclaycard and they just sent me statements for 6 years. I had PPI on there from the first of those statements, totalling some £35 per month, but I know I was paying it long before that too. Is there a way I can claim for it going back further than the 6 years as well? I have totted up what they took from me after that and it comes to £562. I haven't a copy of the agreement and they haven't sent it me when I asked for the SAR. Any ideas how to proceed???
Thanks, Russell0 -
Only if you have copies of statement it would seem if Barclays are saying they do not. Its another way of only paying you "some" of what you are owed, if you have been missold that is, by using the data protection act (only keeping records for 6 years).rfryer0791 wrote: »I sent asking for an SAR from Barclaycard and they just sent me statements for 6 years. So I am guessing I won't get the agreement and consequently no proof of mis-selling?0

Hi there
With 2 of mine, I know I was sold PPI as they always added it anyway, but I could not get hold of the agreements, but was still successful of reclaiming the ppi.
I did have the statements though. The one and only "Dizzy Di"
