Steph, i hope you come back and realise you have nothing but support and i think your really brave for posting on here and echo everything said above.

Why don't you come and join us over on the giving up/cutting down alcohol thread, i've found it very supportive and it makes you accountable if your honest. People understand the ups and downs and support you through the hard times and congratulate you on the good.

Pigpen, i'm sure you mean well, but in all honesty your being judgemental, this condition does not have a "one size fits all" I empathise with your family's problems, but this does not help Steph. Yes a hard sharp, you know what your doing, and you can control it, word of warning put in place is what she has heard many a time, the fact that she is hiding it is relevant to that. She has posted on a faceless forum wanting help, albeit before, but she realises her problem and maybe wants somebody in similar position to understand how she feels. We can all say that people should stop over drinking, over smoking, taking drugs, being dependant on one thing or another, but resolving those issues is easier said than done. Alcoholism is an illness, and has to be treated as such. What treatment is right for one person, may not be correct for another. The fact that Steph posted last night and has not returned since, shows her remorse, and in all honesty, i'm sure we have all said more than we should after a couple of drinks or two.
