My Bid Mysteriously Reaching The Max I Bid

tonight i won a printer on ebay, it was sitting at £26 odds, in the last 15 seconds i bid £32.75, i won it for my max bid i entered, is it possible for pepple to fix this so it reaches the max a person bid?

the same happened in novermber when i bought a laptop, i did the same, a last minute bid and it sold for exactly the value of my max bid?

is this a fluke or is this foul play ????:cool:

If the person before you had a max bid of £32 and then you bid £32.75 it will go straight to your max bid, if they only had a max bid of £28 then yours would have been £29 or whatever the next rise is.
Just because someone is winning an auction at a certain price does not mean that is their max bid, it will only rise if someone bids against them.

thanks for the reply, i understand how the max bidding works, i just find it strange 2 items recently have ended on my max bid, it could just be coincidence, i just hope that kind of thing is not possible, :cool:

It's just that you and the underbidder had a rough idea what the item was worth and both bid near the same amount.

Check that the underbidder didn't retract any bids. That would be suspicious.

you will also have people who place snipped bid using services like bidnapper, gixen, so they place a bid that the seller or other bidders are unaware of until the last seconds

You could really be a mystic, predicting the exact price twice.

If they do then the maximum bid on the OP would have dropped.

One trick people use to find out a buyers max bid is to use a separate account, make a large bid and insure its the highest bid, on the bidding history it will show what the previous bidder bid to (highest bid) then cancel the fake bid and you are back where you stated armed with the knowledge of the winnings bidders highest bid.

Always watch the bid history for funny goings on.

THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS, caps off lol, i put my bid in with 15 seconds to go and so that stops anyone having a chance to change their bid, including me lol, there was no bid retractions either.
