Cancelling "three" contract

Hi All

First post so be gentle please!!

I have had a search about and read the various topics surrounding trying to get out.

However my problem is quite a specific one. I bought an iphone 4 on three on just under 2 weeks ago, i havent actually made any calls on it yet as i seem to be having extreme difficulty finding any signal. Granted i have been using it on my wifi for internet etc but no actual calls or texts as yet.

I went on the basis that their coverage checker states that i should have indoor and outdoor coverage at both my home address and work address, i definitely get nothing indoors at either location and get a very patchy and weak outside at work and again not much to write home about with the outside signal at home.

Basically im looking for a way out! If anyone can help it would be much appreciated! Im sure there will be a way out as although it states that there coverage checker isnt 100% accurate surely they cant state that there will be signal both in and outdoors when there is nothing?!

Thanks

Gregg

And what was the point in waiting for almost 2 weeks?

The earlier you do this the less problems you have.

You have 14 days to return it and cancel the contract without inuring an "Early Termination Fee"

Looking at Three's returns policy, it's only 14 days if you bought online, and then only if the phone is unused.
(If you've done anything more than take it out of the box you're screwed).
I think the OP might be stuck sadly.
  • I bought the phone just before going away, in all fairness I was away in an area where signal isn't great on any network but have only been home for 2 days.

I'm not quite sure how 3 would expect you to not actually open the phone without turning it on as obviously you can't do anything without plugging it into iTunes to set it up.

I am waiting for a call back from 3 just now.

It may be a fault with the phone apparently. I suspect that it isn't though. He checked the areas in which I'm having no signal and he said that I shouldnt be having any difficulties.

Sadly I bought it from one of their shops so the 14 days doesn't apply.

You understand what a contract is? what did you think "18 months" actually meant when you signed it? that it was simply a number without meaning?

    Welcome Gregg!

I had the exact same problem with Orange. The coverage checker showed no problems at my home but there was NO signal at all.

I managed to return it a few days later, after having used it on my home wifi only - I had loaded some music on too which I then wiped.

It is possible. Contact 3 asap, explain that you were away fom your primary residence when you took out the contract so didn't know it wouldn't work. Be persistant but polite and take it as high as you can.

    Good luck.

You signed up to a contract you are legally bound to fulfill. If you want to be released from it, there's usually a penalty clause in any contract. Welcome to the world of grown ups.
