I didn't think it was possible to grow anything but the grapes of wrath in this country (ie small and sour)!
I appreciate vines for their decorative value alone, esp trailed in a warm conservatory.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
"No man is worth, crawling on the earth"- adapted from Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio
Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Do the grapes really grow large enough and sweet enough to pick and eat off the vine outdoors?
Depends where you live, as pointed out South Downs are different from Yorkshire Moors
I have seen them on a wall at Romsey Gardens, big enough to eat, but not as big as glasshouse ones, no idea on sweetness as too many eyes watching me
I had one on the south side of my house Porstdown Hill, Hampshire, unknown variety, but small, black & sweet, with pips. I believe white ones are more successful outsideEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
In the last five years, I have had good-sized grapes in North Yorkshire (very sheltered corner) Suffolk, and now Kent. Not many coming yet in Kent, but the plants aren't established yet. I have hopes ... south-facing wall of a walled garden... chalky soil... mmm0

Iam a Chef and 1 thing I know is that meat bought from morrisons has a much better grain in their meat, if you look at the colour of the meat in comparison to Tesco or Asda the meat is a darker red and when cooked does not shrink unlike Tesco and Asda's meat. There are a number of reasons for this 1 is that Tesco and Asdas' meats are pumped with water to gain extra weight and 2 is that thier meat is not cured for as long. curing time must be at least a month, but Tesco and Asda only cure for 5-7 days therefore holds more water. Hope this advice helps
