Yes!!! Result from pcn from tps!! Update!

Hi everyone.. I just wanted to add a new thread in case no one sees the one I added just now to my previous thread about council parking cost vs private parking last week.

I want to encourage you all out there who are facing what I faced on the 13th May when I received a PCN for parking at Dunelm Mill Shop in Shoreham by Sea in Sussex.

I initially had written not only to Dunelm Mill themselves but also to TPS and 'appealed'.. of course TPS did not want to know and told me that I had a week to pay up or their fee would rise to £150 from £100! I was staggered to be quite frank and shocked .. luckily enough though I was also angry! The latter emotion meant that I was not going to let sleeping dogs lie and just pay up.

Instead, I came on here, looked up various things and found to my immense surprise that there were hundreds of us on here who had received these parking notices and that there was nothing legal about them whatsoever! I took the advice I was given and did write back to the Head Office Customer Services and fortunately, I was helped by someone who felt my cause was just and arranged for my earnest request to be sent to their properties department who then took it up with TPS and got the PCN cancelled today!

So the moral of the story is......DON'T PAY UP AND DON'T GIVE UP!! Stick to your guns and read everything on here that is offered.. take it not with a pinch of salt but with total belief and trust what you are being told to do. Don't weaken or buckle as I nearly did on a few occasions.. keep the faith!

If you don't succeed with writing to the company whose shop you were in, write to your MP.. your local newspapers etc etc......talk to people in the car park next time you visit the store.....spread the word about the EVIL monsters who sit behind the cameras in these car parks! I will also though be writing to my MP to talk to him about the DVLA giving out my personal details as registered keeper.. check the threads out on that too!

There is room for change and if we all stick together and stand up against bully boy tactics, we will win! I think they were probably thinking after me bombarding them with info such as Watchdog, MP, and newspapers .. DDA.......etc etc... that it was best to appease me and let me off!! lol

Good luck everyone!!! REMEMBER - DON'T PAY UP ANYTHING AND MAKE SURE YOU IGNORE THEM!!

    It was not a PCN.

In future just ignore them (unless issued by a public body/council). YOu wasted your time writing back to them.

Well I dont think it was a waste of time .. I talked to them at ground level about other issues too.. I have a disabiliity and talked to them about the issue of time and parking spaces as well as my PCN! Please don't split hairs over this.. we all refer to them as being PCN's on here don't we?

Although the general concensus is to ignore all private parking tickets, congrats for getting the INVOICE cancelled.

And congrats on complaining, more complaints to the landowners will soon kick them out of the car-parks when the shops relise that in trying to solve a very minor problem of people parking all-day have created a major problem of saying goodbye to shoppers the better.

Yes Kite.. that really will be the fallout of these insane car parking policies .. and one of the issues I mentioned to Dunelm Mill was exactly that fact.. that the end result will be people won't shop there.. word will soon spread as more and more people get sent notices for overstaying. I am not a complainer by nature about things in general but I will get on my soap box if there is something that I feel very strongly about or if helping to fight another's corner! Thanks for the congrats... it was a high moment for me today.. I had no intenton of paying anyway but it was nice to have it made official that I did not have to! TPS though I am sure are seething!! That in itself is a result! ;-)

PCN = Penalty Charge Notice, not Parking Charge Notice - these parking companies use the abbreviated term 'PCN' for the latter, in an attempt to convince their victims there is something 'official' about the INVOICE they have sent them.....
