Natwest don't allow more than one SO to the same account number

Santander savings accounts all have the same 00050005 account number.

Never has been any different. In fact Santanders ( building society) system is antiquated if its still using roll numbers. As historically this required manual processing. Whereas banks automated using account and sorting code a long time ago.

Seems as if the online NatWest system is to protect customers from doing silly mistakes.

So you could try filling in standing order forms and handing these into your own branch to process. Including the additional data in the reference field. Alternatively open a second Natwest account.

Sigh. Still missing the point.. both SOs have to be in your main current account.. don't worry. :( I know you're trying to help. God bless :kisses3::kisses::rudolf:

As I said, it's no big deal, I'll just have to remember to set it all up manually once the Santander accounts are complete.

I called up Natwest and was told they can't set up 2 SOs to the same account number. "The system won't allow it".

Paper forms involve going to the branch, finding someone and then speaking the english language to them :T and assuming I get that far, a paper form is only a paper form until it's input into a computer ;). They'll undoubtedly encounter the same problem on their computer system that I did online and on the phone. "computer says no".

As much as I love Natwest's entertaining customer service, I'd rather keep it to a minimum! :rotfl:

As I said, I will manually set it up once the Santander accounts are complete.
    Cheers

As far as I am aware Santander Require you not only 2SO but also 2DD.

For SO it is easy. Set up a dummy SO to your 2 other accounts, say £1.00 to each account. This is the benefit of having many bank a/c, you play with the systems.

    But DD is quite difficult.

No, you're missing the point. You HAVE to have at least 2 standing orders set up in your previous account in order to get the £100 joining welcome. So, the girl told me to set it up in this way. But you can't..
