Foreign drivers often don't require beam deflectors because the foreign laws often don't require the lights to illuminate the pavement - giving rise to the problem when we travel abroad. The pavement beam is designed to highlight pedestrians and generally seems to be a UK peculiarity.

Well they should. Even in daytime. (think tunnels or heavy rain, or an on the spot fine if you prefer).

Is there not a shop at the Eurotunnel entrance which would sell this sort of thing?
