don't you think that you should check your facts before making wild accusations ?
Don't you think that a possible abestos risk should be checked properly, rather than assuming if the op can't analyse it himself he should ignore it?Im not sure what the "fibres" are that the OP mentions. I remember pulling off an asbestos roof on our old sheds, probably 40 years ago now and cant remember fibres, they were just like shale.
The fibres are small, very very very small, that's why they're dangerous.
The main risk of exposure is when you break the roof, then dust is created. Using a digger is possibly the worst way to remove this.
I'd have the HSE there when they broke the first piece.0 -
I wonder just how dangerous the roof tiles really are in truth though - people were always dragging them off and smashing them up in my youth - I cant say any of those involved ever died from doing it that I know and they were all in the same village and area all their long lives. Ive just been reading those asbestos scam sites info and it does seem there is very very little dangerous material in this type of tile.
Its a shame the government didnt plough the multi millions they spent on the asbestos removal industry in having teams of people going round removing fags from shops and peoples lips - that WOULD have saved hundreds of thousands of lives, without doubt.0 -

Even better they could have stuck the smokers heads in bags of asbestos dust and seen which carried them off first. The effects of asbestos inhalation do not normally make themselves apparent until 40 years after exposure but at that juncture it is often only a month or two till death. You scullion! You rampallian!
