Well done paddedjohn for finding a tester who will do anything extra. Mine would simply fail it (contrary to popular belief MOT testers are much more thorough with regular traders cars).

    He needs a refresher :)

I was an mot tester for a few years and if any tester failed my car because he couldnt open the back doors i would not hesitate to report him/her. As pointed out above how would they check the belts on a 2 door car.

Well presumably he'd lower and slide the front seats in the manner which they're designed to do on three-door cars. Five-door cars aren't designed to do this. Anyway can't really see how this is relevant to the discussion to be honest, either it's a fail or it isn't.

Besides isn't there a working door on the other side of the back seat that he can open to test the seat belts? :)
