  • Thanks twink - I'll have a look if there are any in my pound shop. Found them on the website - just need to see how big they actually afre!!

pinkmum - that looks really lovely! I don't think I have the patience or creativity to do different versions - which is why the lanterns are a good idea! However, OH still seems to be stuck on fish bowls after speaking to him last night. Found somewhere to hire them decorated for £10 each. However, I'm not super keen on having to collect & return to/from someone 45mins in the other direction! Hmmmmmmmmmmm - I HATE making decisions!!!

Maybe you could pretend to be a church florist??!!!

My florist is in Bedfordshire. Let me know if that's close enough for anyone to want her details.

She did a friends wedding last year and just kind of does it on top of a p/t job so she only really does weddings in the summer. Look on Gumtree or ask around - my MIL to be is part of a WI group that are often only too thrilled to help with stuff like this.
  • My florist is an interflora one, and charges £7 to buy the fish bowls, then a couple of pounds to fill it.
If you find an ebay selller with some that are far away i would recommend getting a courier, they can be as cheap as £6 and will pick up item then deliver to you xx
  • Thanks sonntobeawife - have contacted lacal Interflora, but they either don't do it or charge more. I have, however, just taken the plunge & ordered 10 lanterns from Confetti! They have 20% off this weekend with code 20spring - as it was already reduced by 1/3, they were only £5.33 each! :)

    Thanks everyone!

  • Hi trying_2_b_good.
I'm in Chorley, so not far away, but using a flower shop from Garstang. Was worried at first that I wouldn't be able to afford to have professional flowers and thought about doing it myself, but arranged a meeting to get rough ideas and said I was thinking of doing centrepieces myself as my budget was £15 per table. She was fab and came up with loads of suggestions for cheaper flowers for buttonholes and poseys, and using wire etc, so we are having something similar to this but in pink with coloured water and beads on the foliage...

Far less hassle than having to transport/arrange myself on the day and we keep the flowers afterwards!

  • Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lanterns from Confetti have arrived - but they're smaller than it said on the site. I've complained & they've changed the site & will give me a full refund, but I'm so annoyed as the whole centre piece / wedding thing is driving me up the wall! I hate making decisions & have been really struggling - and when I made the decision it was a relief - but now I have to start again!

What's really annoying is that the bigger version of the ones I ordered are the perfect size (I thought they were too big, but she has since got her ruler out & changed the dimensions on the site). But they had 1/3 off when I placed the order & they're full price now. So if I exchange them for the bigger size, it's £70 more than the initial order, and £40 more than if I'd have ordered them when the offer was on.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Awwww, no!
I would be worth emailing again and pointing this out, asking whether they will exchange the smaller ones for the larger, with the discount you would have been eligible for at the time you ordered, as a gesture of goodwill or as compensation for the inconvenience of the sizes not being correct on the website.
I would certainly give it a go, nothing to lose & as my mum always says, if you don't ask, you don't get!
    Good luck x
