Thanks - I hadn't really considered the selling back part - so I guess that if I go overboard, I'd get at least a third back! The roses are beautiful for £6!!
Thanks for the Confetti tip - sending link to OH to see if he likes them or prefers fish bowls...Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

Be honest with the florist about what you can afford. Our table centres are costing £9 per table. Includes hire of tall vases, crystals in the bottom, 3 big lilies, 2 roses and some long stemmed grass. Looks lovely but waaaay cheaper than billions of flowers. And we're in the SOuth East.
Otherwise make friends with a florist/church warden and see if you can borrow their flower wholesaler card. We borrowed my Mum's friends one she uses for doing church flowers to go have a look - OMG vases etc are like Ikea prices and the flowers are dead cheap too if you're thinking of doing it yourself.
Good Luck
your florist sounds waaaaaay more reasonable than any I've found!!
I don't know anyone with one of those cards which is such a shame as sounds fab!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

OK - so OH likes these http://shop.confetti.co.uk/product/small-marrakech-lantern-29cm/101027/
Question now is: what would you do to jazz it up? Or would you just leave them really simple, put a tea light in, put it on a mirrored plate with tea lights & that's it??Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

Your florist sounds very affordable- would you mind PM'ing/posting who they are please? If they are local enough to me I would love to get a quote from them! We have been quoted £25 per centre piece for a lot less than what you're getting, and that's excluding vase hire! :eek:Be honest with the florist about what you can afford. I think keeping them simple would be really nice, something like this, but obviously with the white lantern, I think this is really elegant!
Or, perhaps a couple of flowers on the handle, like this, would be inexpensive to do with foam flowers.:heartpuls dawnebabe :heartpuls0 -
Keep an eye on ebay - We got 6 large vases for £20 - recycled from someone elses wedding, and when we're hitched, they are destined back for ebay! We got some cheap rose petals, which will line the bottom of the vase, and some big candles for £1 each from ikea - 6 centre pieces for about £30 x0

I've searched eBay high & low! Unfortunately most want collection only but aren't in my area, or they seem expensive from professional sellers. keeping an eye on preloved & gumtree too!!
I think I may have fallen in love with the lanterns now though! Wilkos & Dunelm also have some on their website, but they're narrower than the ones on confetti, so I think they're still the best. However, OH thinks they're boring!!!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

I like the apple ones, but they're not very me.
I've sent OH some pics of the lanterns on there own, and when they're on mirror plates with a candle lit inside them, they look effective (even he agrees!). I also found an old thread where someone said they jazzed up the lanterns with crafty butterflies & ribbons. Think this will be ideal as it's minimum fuss and effort on the day!!
