Air travel 2012

I want to travel to Hawaii in March/April 2012. The airlines are just posting prices for Apriland they are expensive. Friends in the USA tell me it's way too early to book flights and that I'll get better deals if I wait. However a travel agent here in the UK insists I should book now- the earlier the better.
Can anyone please suggest what is the best course of action?

If you want to travel in school holidays demand is high and airlines don't tend to sell flights 'cheap' because they don't have to.
There are no non-stop flights to HNL from the UK, so consider going via Chicago and having a stopover there, a travel agent may have a flight + hotel deal that includes accomodation in Chicago.
Where in the UK are you?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I am in Yorks so usually use Manchester - not tied to school holidays either0

Perhaps look at a trip that returns before the easter school holidays start. BTW Virgin fly from MAN to LAS Vegas twice a week if you fancy stopping there.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm looking at going to HI next summer. Researching prices I've found that flying from Heathrow is cheaper then flying from Manchester, and you can find flights with just 1 stop rather than the 2 you seem to get from MAN. Maybe this could work for you?0 -
Hawaii is a long trip, similar to going to Perth in Australia
Perth
12:05 Depart London (LHR)
Arrive Perth (PER) 14:15
+1 day Sat 1-Oct
Duration: 19hr 10mn
Hawaii
12:00 Depart London (LHR)
Arrive Honolulu (HNL) 21:00 Sat 1-Oct
Duration: 20hr 0mn
Worth considering a stop over.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
What do you consider expensive?
Flights to the USA have gone up ALOT this year. Lots of people paying £600-700 to the West Coast.
United have flights LON-HNL via LAX for £765 for March 2012.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0
