Save on Gas, Electric and Water - Shower at work?

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but:

5 times a week I have a 10-15 minute shower before work. If I were to use the showers at my office rather than doing this, how much would I save a month, if anything? I assume I'm using gas, electric and water in the process, so the bills for those would be lower, just not sure by how much?

Thanks money savers!

Jim.

    10-15 mins in the shower?

Why not just have a 5 minute shower instead, cut your bills for that by 2/3.:)

10-15 minutes was an estimate. Maybe it's 5-10, does that really matter?!

Its all very well saying use showers at work, not many employers provide showers. And I suspect those that do assuming you don't have a job which needs showers after work ie coal miner then maybe your employer may cotton on to the fact his/her electric bill is going sky high. Didn't think many offices would have shower either, surely that cant be the norm? If people start abusing what is there maybe a employer may have good reason to sack someone much like using computers for personnel use in office time especially giving uncertain future many of us are in

Can I assume with your username you work in a office at a gym

The client I am working for tends to have showers at most offices these are primarily for people who cycle to work, run to work, go jogging lunchtime etc. Not sure they would notice if someone who didn't do any of these things started showering at work.

What you save I suspect will be very little unless the only reason you have the hot water on in the morning is for your shower.

Obviously you will need to leave home earlier every morning to allow time for a shower etc before you start work.

Yes, cycling to work would be the reason for showering there. A gym is also on site, which I use some mornings.

    Shattaf.

You just need a little toilet tissue to dry.

I am saving a fortune on toilet paper.

Only in that a 15 minute shower will (logically) use three times the water and electricity that a 5 minute one does.

  • If females shared with males that would save the company money and they might not mind so much....
