Automatic insurance renewals

A method (Somewhat long winded) they advocate for issuing documents to landlords and estate agents on the home buying forum on mse. Is to send the same letter from tow different post offices and obtain proof of postage from each. Apparantly a court will not believe that the same letter sent the same day at two different post offices has got lost.0

hmm..........I think chantelle at the call center will still say it hasn't be received (I don't doubt what you say about courts).
If you have recorded delivery you sometimes (but not always) get a signature, time and date, so it can work better if you can tell Chantelle that "The screen in front on me says Bob Smith signed for it at 8:30 on Monday".0 -
I have just spoken to Hastings and they claim not to have received my letter dated 9 May, when I sent them proof of insuring elsewhere. I am just about to send this again and I will send it recorded delivery as you suggest.
Thanks for the advice.
It's amazing how many letter go missing to insurers, that you have to prove they received in order to get action on.
Oddly enough, it's ok for them merely to have posted it if your autorenewal letter goes astray, and even though you haven't had sight of it to refuse, that's your problem then.
Special delivery in the best way to send it.
Dearer, but you will get a signature, recorded you probably won't.0 -
i'm in a similar situation, insurer asking for £100.
what will happen in the long term if i refuse to pay ?0 -
Debt collectors. CCJ, or at least your day in court.
Post up some details, maybe we can help.0 -
is a CCJ worth their while for such a small amount ?0
-
You'll be paying for it, plus their costs, plus the debt collectors fees, and the original £100, so well worth it.

They'll probably sell it onto a debt collector (for £30 or £40) that way they get somerthing quick.
Many of these debt collection companies do not follow the law and will harrass you constantly e.g. phone you 5 times a day.
So initially you won't get taken to court, but you'll get lots of threatening letters and phone calls.
Most people don't like this.0 -
Personally I think that's overkill and expensive. but it's true to say there are numerous methods on offer to suit any situation.Special delivery in the best way to send it.

If your aim is actually for it to be received (as opposed to have proof for court) then one of the ways to bypass the potal chenanigans is to find someone helpful, tell them your woes and ask them if they will stand by the fax machine whilst you fax it.
Sometimes (for exmaple if you are waiting for a refund) you actually need to try to help the staff actually get it rather than just store up proof.0 -
I find SD helps the staff remember they got it 100% of the time0
