I phone...best deal for daughter

My daughter originally wanted a blackberry for her birthday,(cos she thinks im to tight to buy her a i phone...prob true..)
however now her i touch has broken im looking at replacing it so 180 - 200£, and buying her a new phone so im considering it after all as it will cost just as much.

alternative is the blackberry and replacing her touch, but she is used to her toucscreen phone and the clackberry torch is just as expensive

she currently has a contact which is only 10 a month, im unsure if i should buy one payg or contract, i dont want to be paying silly money each month fo her either......?

what sort if deals are out there....also should i wait...her bday is june 1st will prices drop if they announce the i phone 5????

You can buy an unlocked iPhone 4 direct from apple & the 16gb version is £510. That way you can carry on with the contract without it costing anymore per month. You would need a micro-sim from the network provider though.

Alternatively you could buy one on pay-as-you-go from the network she is on already, but to be honest it will cost about the same as an unlocked one.

When the iPhone 4 came out the 3gs didn't drop in price so it's unlikely the iPhone 4 will drop when the 5 comes out either.

If you go down the PAYG route, make sure you know what kind of data provision you get with the current £10/month contract - could be a nasty sting...

As I said on another thread, i am a HUGE Apple fan but at this point I'd have to say that you may be better off getting her an Android phone. The Desire S is a good price/performance phone.

Desire HD has *incredibly* poor battery life. You'd be setting yourself up for a couple of years of "I couldn't call to say I was late - my battery ran out again" :)

Firstly I agree with Idiophreak, the Desire HD has a terrible battery life. Avoid.

Secondly if my teenager had that attitude, my response would be "That's fine....when you pay for it yourself, you can get exactly what you want. Here's a £10 basic phone so you can call me. Have a nice life"

she doesnt have an attitude:mad:, i just would like to get her something that she has asked for, and actually wants rather than something i have picked for her...... as it will be her birthday present and is after all her phone.......
I know she would like an i phone but hasnt asked for one as she knows they are expensive and has asked for a blackberry instead ( i think a lot of her friends have these)
problem here is she has a touchscreen phone at the moment and im not sure shed get on with the curve, and am leaning towards the torch but that is almost as expensive as the i phone...now her i touch is broke we will replace it.....her brother broke the screen, and was thinking of combining them.
