For a good view and for the dates we need, even more expensive. We're slumming it at the Kayenta Monument Valley Inn that night:rotfl:

You certainly are :D But there is nothing nearby that's any better TBHO

We stayed there when it was the Holiday Inn. Luckily I could use some points for the stay otherwise it was £100 per night

    Enjoy

  • Now this leaves us a day free.

Have you considered a visit to Canyon-de Chelly, it is only 90 miles southeast of Monument Valley. Definitely worth a visit and you can sing the Turkey Buzzard song whilst admiring Spider Rock.

Rather than go to Lake Tahoe i have decided to go to Zion and Bryce Canyon on my trip in June.
Just read back a couple of pages and found the answer to my original question!

Anyone have recommendations of somewhere to stay?

I stayed in the Bryce Canyon Best Western a couple of years back and that was excellent. I can not do links as a newbie but stick the www in front of this.

It gets very mixed reviews. It's only going to be a place to get our heads down for the night. Cost us £100!
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Go in with low expectations and you won't be disappointed :p

It is certainly not value for money!

The highway from\to MV is good but it's still 30 miles e\w so plan accordingly for sunset\eating etc.

When do you have to apply for the "Wave" ?

A friend of mine is waiting to see if he's in for May-1st Feb and he'll know.

No Car hire rental should charge one way fees in California and between CA and Nevada

We have to apply on June 1 for our trip in September. Just watched the lottery that they do daily. It's like bingo!:rotfl:

Getting really excited, a couple of friends I know have been to Bryce (she said hike down ) the view up is gorgeous. Lake Powell is beautiful and don't even get her started on MV. :)

I have booked the Bryce Canyon Lodge which is in the park, due to the short time we can be there atleast that way we are in the best location -$195 including taxes
