Converting 3 Contract to PAYG?

Hello guys,
Have any of you ever successfully downgraded your contract phone to pay as you go, and if so, how do you do it?
The reason I ask is, I'm currently paying £15 +vat inc. per month for a contract with 3 which came to an end some time ago, however they've recently launched a payg service which would give me unlimited data and four times as many inclusive minutes, without a contract.
Rang 3 customer services, bloke told me that I "wouldn't need" unlimited internet or more calls based on my usage history, and proceeded to try to flog me a contract, albeit at a cheaper monthly rate. Tried the website, and there was nothing there either. Any ideas?

Just call them and ask to switch you from Pay Monthly to PAYG tariff that you want. This may be a subject to 30 days notice.willmill82 wrote: »Any ideas?
