I rang up dla this morning to see if they have the report back from school yet re:my daughterand they said they received it back on the 18th and wrote to the gp on 19th for a report from him but they've also sent it to the decision makers to see if they have enough already to make a decision. Does that mean that the school have wrote a report with no evidence contradicting what i've said and so thats why they need to ask the g.p? The thing is g.p hasn't even seen my daughter, he just made the referral to camhs so was the middle man so to speak. I rang the surgery earlier and they said they haven't received the form yet, when they do should I make an appt to see him and go over daughters care needs? I've had a few appts with him about dd but he never lets me speak he just says yes general bad behaviour, learning difficulties. He never gives me any time to speak and when I try he talks over me. This happened also when he made a referral to camhs for my dd and they declined it until I wrote them a letter saying exactly what dd's problems are and it was much more than bad behaviour and they accepted the referral after that.
There was one other doctor but he left the week before last and has been replaced by an even worse one who barely speaks english so getting an appt with him is not really an option. Do you think writing a letter to the doctor and posting it might bea better option, explaining all the problems I have with dd and all the extra care she needs etc and then when the form arrives he can use this? He cant talk over a letter can he.
Any advice appreciated x

I would make an appointment as soon as possible to SEE the GP - I wouldn't send a letter explaining the difficulties your daughter has - the GP will want to SEE the patient.
You can write down the problems and leave it with the doctor, but you do need to speak with the GP in person to explain the difficulties. Also you need to tell your GP that you have applied for DLA for your daughter - you should keep him/her up to date.
It is quite normal for DLA to contact your GP for further information. If your GP doesn't know the situation then the report will not be correct as the GP will go by the notes and if there aren't any problems with care etc then the GP can't comment on it - it will be a matter of no problems as far as the GP is concerned!

the problem i see here is they probally will make a descision based on what they already have, going off your other post's the schools report may not help (correct me if i am wrong) as they do not believe your DD to as bad as you say, this is because she is better behaved in school ( it was the same with my DD)
if this happens and you do not get the answer you want, the doctor will charge for a report
if they have sent the form and its lost or held up call them and ask them to send another one to your doctor, if they recieve something from the DLA personally they can fill it out and not charge( hope that made sence)
in the mean time make an appointment to get your doc up to date with ALL the help your DD needs

Hi, thanks. I have made an appt twice and taken my daughter and each time he's insisted on leaving her outside in the waiting room as he doesn't think we should talk about her behaviour and other issues infront of her and it will make her worse. I have tried to tell him all the issues but he keeps talking over me and doesnt let me speak for longer than 30 seconds....it doesn't help that he's quite old himself and has difficulty hearing without you speaking up. I shall make another appt and see where I get lol0

When my son (ASD) was under 16 and seeing CAMHS I always put the specialist from there down on the form. she knew my DS much better than the GP!0

Have you considered changing GPI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Yes i would really like to change G.P but the next nearest one is quite far away and I dont drive. I couldnt put camhs down on the dla form as her 1st appt isnt until next month and so they haven't seen her yet0

I always write a letter to my children's GP when I am renewing their DLA claims.
When you have a five or ten minute consultation appointment, there is no way you can discuss all the issues that are going on, you just have to concentrate on the primary one.
If you make an appointment to see the GP, you cannot be sure if they will take notes, and if everything will be recorded.
By writing a letter, you can make the GP aware of all the issues. Keep it factual and to the point. Combine it with a visit as well if you wish.
This will save the GP having to waste time on taking notes. Hopefully, when the DWP letter is received, your information will be to hand.
The DWP will be asking the GP to provide a Factual Report. These are good for providing medical information, but are sometimes lacking on the grounds of care or mobility needs.

I'm sorry you are going thru such a bad time with your dd, i too am in a siimilar situation with my ds who too is 13.
I've tried looking thru your posts and am a bit puzzled. Does your dd have a SEN? (Statement of Educational Needs)
I've had dealings with CAMHS for a number of years and have been fighting a diagnosis for my ds for 11 years, and still no further forward even now. The only one good thing I do have is the SEN which was granted in Feb this year, it was my ds' special needs school that told me to claim for dla, i've already been turned down twice before the SEN came into play.Raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Macmillan... doing a sponsored 10k skydive for both charities.

Hi. My daughter is on the sen register but only under school action so i'm hoping the education psychologist will recommend that she gets moved to either school action plus or gets fully statemented. My dd is 13 this year and only knows half her alphabet (up to P) cant tell the time, cant do past her 2 times table without using her fingers, doesn't know the months of the year or her address or date of birth and cant swim or ride a bike (we have tried to teach her). She has been doing end of year exams all last week and this week and she's just got the results back from her science exam which is the one she thought she did best on as its her favourite subject (along with cooking) and she got 9 out of 43. She is in bottom groups for all her subjects and has a reading age of 7 yet they still didn't give her a reader for her exams (as they did in her primary school) and according to my daughter the other few children in her group did get a reader.0
